HANOI, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- China and Vietnam have vowed to further promote the healthy development of bilateral relations as senior officials from both sides met here on Thursday.

For countries along the route, possible religious or ethnic conflicts, along with other problems in the legal, financial and environmental areas, may hinder the sound development of the initiative, said Guo Xiangang, a researcher from the China Institute of International Studies.

Speaking on China-Vietnam ties, Xi urged the two sides to stick to the correct path, carry out the consensus reached in bilateral high-level contact, and earnestly implement the projects they have already agreed on, so as to ensure steady and healthy development of bilateral relations and bring benefits to both peoples.

As Turkey and China had agreed on a high-speed rail linking Kars in Turkey's east with the western Turkish city of Edirne, Yildirim voiced hope for joint efforts to advance the project.

Presided over by Wang Qishan, secretary of the CCDI, the meeting urged the CCDI to take a leading role in implementing the two documents, and better address problems existing in Party governance, according to a statement released after the meeting.
