SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in an Allied Gardens neighborhood say they woke up to guns drawn and shouts from FBI agents."I literally have goosebumps right now. It's sad," said Shiva Eftekhari.Around 6 a.m., agents executed a search warrant at a home in the 7100 block of Glenroy Street.  Throughout the morning and into the afternoon, agents collected bags and bags of evidence, including a computer. At one point, they were spotted trying to hammer open a safe in the driveway. 498

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue is bringing on more firefighters and preparing for a Red Flag Warning and Heat Advisory in the week ahead.Starting Monday Deputy Fire Chief David Gerboth said, "our helicopters will be on 24 hours a day. We're staffing up five additional brush engines. These are engines that are specially designed to work in these rural areas."He explained the engines have off-road capabilities and can fight fire in areas similar to Japatul Valley where the Valley Fire burned more than 9,000 acres in a day.The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for San Diego County mountains and valleys Monday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.A Heat Advisory follows, 10 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Thursday, "91 to 102 degrees for the San Diego valleys."This combination dire according to Gerboth."Near-record high temperatures, a mild Santa Ana event and combine that with our vegetation that burns is reaching critically dry levels. So it's very receptive to burn and it's spreading and burning quickly when it does," Gerboth said.He said now is the time to have a plan in place to evacuate. He said to ensure you know your evacuation route, have a go-bag and have your important documents in one place. It is not too late to clear debris from your rain gutters. San Diego Fire-Rescue Media Services Manager Mónica Mu?oz added you can "remove combustible materials from around your home and also remove dead branches and leaves from trees and foliage near your home."Mu?oz said this is not the time to use power tools to clear brush on your property, as you could spark a fire.Gerboth said if you see smoke or feel unsafe do not wait to evacuate. 1670

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Restaurant workers across San Diego County returned to work Friday, after a Superior Court judge ruled restaurants could serve on-site.Martin Cardenas was right back on the job Friday morning, prepping Chula Vista's El Cruce 241 for what he hoped was a sizable lunch crowd.“You have to understand, it is around the holidays, we're social distancing, we're sanitizing everything, we're doing everything in our capacity to stay safe,” he said. But the governor's office says those precautions are still not enough, with ICU capacity at 0% in Southern California due to the coronavirus spread. In early December, the state reduced county restaurants to takeout only, eliminating thousands of jobs. The state reported Friday that nearly 110,000 San Diegans worked in restaurants in November before the latest shutdown order took effect. But this week, a San Diego Superior Court judge gave restaurants the green light to serve on-site.El Cruce 241 is still outdoor only, but other restaurants are now serving inside, which had been disallowed even before this latest shutdown.Little Italy's Nolita Hall will reopen for dinner Friday, outdoors and inside with its Plexiglas-separated tables.“Just being back to a full indoor/outdoor dining allows us to get to our full schedule that we had prior to the shutdown, which obviously is going to help everybody pay their bills and have some type of Merry Christmas,” said Dean Trombino, the restaurant’s prep lead. But the opportunity to stay open could be short-lived, with the state already appealing the ruling.“It could happen and hopefully it won't because it's very mentally draining when you have to consider not working again and where your next paycheck is coming from,” Trombino said. For now, however, the doors are open and the tables are waiting. 1821

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego leaders declared a local emergency and public health emergency for seven days over the novel coronavirus, giving officials access to resources to address the virus.CDC and county health officials cautioned that the declarations did not mean residents faced an increased risk of the virus.Under the declarations, the county will be able to seek mutual aid, potentially be reimbursed for their response, and ensure resources to first responders and hospitals, stock pile medical supplies and gain access to hospital beds, and state and federal emergency funds if necessary.RELATED:Person back in ICE custody after being evaluated for coronavirus at Sharp Chula Vista2 coronavirus patients remain hospitalized, 1 person under observationMislabeled sample led to release of San Diego coronavirus patientMiramar coronavirus evacuees start petition for quarantine oversight"This action does not signify an increase in the risk to the residents in San Diego County to coronavirus," Supervisor Nathan Fletcher told the media. "This is a step that positions us best to confront the challenges of this virus, this action best equips us to be in the strongest position to coordinate efforts, ensure access to available supplies, and best protect public health."Officials called the move "proactive preparation."The County Board of Supervisors will meet on whether to extend the local emergency for another 30 days within the next week."The risk to the general public is still low," said County public health officer Wilma Wooten, County public health officer. "This is an action taken that is meant to reassure the public that health authorities are proactively working to stay ahead of any challenges that may arise."So far, San Diego has two confirmed cases of coronavirus. Those patients are under isolation at UC San Diego Medical Center.According to Eric McDonald, medical director of the County’s Epidemiology and Immunization Branch, San Diego cases include:Seven people are under investigation. Five of them have tested negative and two have tested positive;Four non-San Diego residents who traveled to the region (but not Wuhan, China) monitored: Two tested negative and two have results still pending;Monitored 171 people returning from China with no symptoms: 48 have been cleared after self quarantine, 123 people are still being monitored. None are under investigation;Thirteen San Diegans were on flights next to people confirmed for coronavirus. Eight people have been cleared after two weeks, four people are still self-quarantined, and one person was a person under investigation who has since tested negative.MCAS Miramar has hosted two flights of passengers being evacuated from the coronavirus zone in Wuhan, China. Those passengers have been staying at the base under a 14-day quarantine. Once that quarantine ends next week, low to medium risk individuals will be asked to self-quarantine at home. 2945

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents wanting to take a hot shower at a La Jolla apartment complex could have to wait several days while crews work to repair a gas leak. The leak shut off hot water to three apartment buildings. Neighbors say they got a series of emails Saturday, one of them saying they wouldn’t have hot water for five to seven days. Residents say the issue is unacceptable. "I'm not getting in there, it's way too cold,” said Nick Imison. An email from his leasing company informed Imison he would be without hot water for about a week. Imison lives in the Regents La Jolla apartment complex. The email went on to say that their gas supply was shut off after crews found a gas leak. In the email, residents were told that if they need a shower during business hours, they need to stop by the office with an ID. “I was completely unacceptable for a complex that has about 600 units to just go hey yea you can come shower bring your id but it's only between the hours of nine and six,” Imison said. 10News reached out to the leasing company via email but have not heard back. In the email sent to residents, the company cites the need for several city and SDG&E required inspections before they can turn the gas back on. 1242
