Jimmy John's is known for its "freaky fast" delivery, but one branch showed it can deliver a lot more in helping an ailing veteran.A woman thought she was calling a social worker to help her brother after his spinal surgery. Little did she know she had misdialed and called the sandwich shop in Columbus, Nebraska."The whole time I pretty much knew that she didn't know she was talking to someone from Jimmy John's. It didn't seem important to really bring it up, but I just wanted to make sure that she knew I was going to help her," said Jason Voss, the night-shift manager at the Columbus Jimmy John's.Army veteran Greg Holeman, 48, was recovering from spinal surgery when he returned to his home last week. His sister, Lisa Nagengast, flew in to help get him settled at home.Just moments after she landed back home in Florida, Nagengast received a voice mail from her brother saying he was having severe pain in his left leg and couldn't stand up.Unsure if the US Department of Veterans Affairs would pay for Holeman's ambulance, Nagengast attempted to reach Holeman's social worker. As she frantically rushed through the airport to claim her luggage, Nagengast began explaining her brother's situation over the phone.Voss didn't want to leave the store, so he got Zach Hillmer, one of the drivers, to go pick up Holeman and take him to the emergency room.Once Hillmer called Nagengast back to find out more information about her brother, it became clear to her she was not talking to a social worker."I was kinda gracefully [trying to] back out of everything that had happened at that point," Nagengast told CNN. "He was like, 'No no no, I will take him to the hospital. You give me his name and his address and make sure that he gets in the car with me, and I will get him where he needs to go.'"After the phone mix-up, Nagengast thanked the employees for stepping up. "I cannot say thank you enough to Jason Voss and Zack (sic) Hillmer ... there are not enough words to express my gratitude." JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man freed from prison last year after 22 years will not be tried a seventh time in a quadruple murder case. A judge dismissed the charges Friday after the state attorney general's office said prosecutors no longer had any credible witnesses. Curtis Flowers was released from custody Dec. 16 for the first time in 22 years. Flowers was convicted four times in the 1996 killings of four people at a furniture store in the north Mississippi city of Winona: twice for individual slayings and twice for all four killings. Kroger is going to stop selling magazines about assault rifles, a spokeswoman for the grocery chain said on Friday.Kroger made the announcement just weeks after it said it would stop selling guns and ammunition to anyone under the age of 21. Kroger sells guns through its 45 Fred Meyer stores, located in four Western states.Kroger didn't specify how the company will screen gun magazines for "assault rifles." Some magazines, like Field & Stream, focus on hunting rifles and shotguns. Other magazines focus on handguns. (KGTV) - The Granite Lion Cellars in Jamul will break ground Wednesday on a new tasting room and wine cave, adding to their expanding vineyard and winery in the East County."We've been waiting for this for quite a while," says Tasting Room Manager Miriam Valdez. "I"m over the moon that it's finally happening."The multi-million dollar expansion will help Granite Lion deal with the increase of customers they've seen over the past year. Sommelier David Whited says they've gone from about ten visitors each week to 150.It's an excellent problem to have, and one that is spreading up and down Highway 94. "You can do it here, 20 minutes from downtown."The new wine cave and tasting room are the latest sign that the region is gaining in popularity. The first tasting room in the area opened in 2014. "It's away from the busy hustle and bustle of the city. You can enjoy nature. You can find a place here to rejuvenate and relax."The San Diego County Vinters Association says there are 116 wineries across the county. A recent report showed they have a million economic impact every year.Whited says the geography in the East County allows vineyards to grow more flavorful grapes commonly found in Europe."There are two mountain ranges that filter in the marine climate into the valley here which sets us apart from anywhere else in San Diego," he says.County Supervisor Diane Jacob is expected to attend Wednesday's event.
