SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited the U.S.-Mexico border Monday for a news conference. During the conference, Sessions announced that he would be referring all illegal border crossings to the Department of Justice. Sessions said he will be implementing a "zero tolerance" policy and that any people crossing the border illegally will be prosecuted. RELATED: President Trump visits border wall prototypes?"The American people are right and just and decent to ask for this. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Before taking children trick-or-treating this Halloween, families are encouraged to visit The Megan's Law Website where hundreds of registered sex offenders are listed across San Diego. The search tool allows families to look up registered sex offenders in their neighborhood or other parts around the state and see them on a map."Megan’s Law also authorizes local law enforcement agencies to notify the public about sex offender registrants found to be posing a risk to public safety," the site says.The map lists markers surrounding the address used in the search.  Users can input any address and radius for a broader search. Information includes images of the sex offender, known aliases, addresses, description of the person, offenses, and a risk assessment.According to website, some of the registrants are currently in violation of their registration requirements and asks the public to contact police with information they may have about these individuals.The website was created and named after 7-year-old Megan Kanka, of New Jersey, who was brutally raped and killed in 1994 by her neighbor, Jesse Timmendequas.  Timmendequas had been convicted for sexually assaulting young girls.  After serving less than a year in a correctional facility, he  moved into a home across the street from the family without their knowledge. "In the wake of that tragedy, the Kankas sought to have local communities warned about sex offenders in the area. All states in the U.S. now have some form of Megan's Law," the website says.The website indicates that some of the registrants are currently in violation of their registration requirements. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities responded to reports of a California Highway Patrol Officer who crashed his motorcycle in Rancho Bernardo Thursday evening. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened on northbound I-15 at Rancho Bernardo Road before 6 p.m. At this time, the cause of the crash is unknown. It’s also unknown whether or not the officer was injured in the crash. 416

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cal Coast Academy, a private school in Carmel Valley, has an "ambitious" plan to bring kids back to campus as soon as San Diego gets approval from state and county administrators."When we put our mind to something, we make it happen," says Jan Dunning, the school's founder and principal.Dunning plans to build six large tents on the school's property, similar to tents used at weddings or other large events. They'll have flooring, electricity and other amenities to make them feel like indoor classrooms."At my school we think on our feet," says Dunning. "We are flexible because we work with students that need flexibility. So that's a real strength of ours."Cal Coast Academy caters to students who need non-traditional learning, like elite athletes who travel extensively, international students, or students with learning disabilities. That's why the school feels they'll be able to make a non-traditional learning environment work this fall.Class sizes in the tents will be limited to six students per teacher, to allow for social distancing.But the project isn't cheap. Dunning says they've already spent nearly ,000 on the tents. Costs like that make it unlikely that public schools with large enrollments would be able to hold classes outdoors in a similar fashion. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- County Supervisor Jim Desmond said Friday that more businesses throughout San Diego County can reopen pending approval from health officials.Those businesses include nail salons, massages, and tattoo parlors.Supervisor tweeted out the statement Friday, saying: "Pending County Health Official's approval, next Friday personal services (nail salons, massages, tattoo parlors, etc.) will be able to open in San Diego County!"The news comes after county health officials allowed gyms, hotels, and bars, among other businesses to reopen beginning June 12.RELATED: San Diego County gyms, bars, movie theaters reopening June 12Those businesses, according to the county, were required to complete a "Safe Reopening Plan" and share it with their employees and display it where customers and patrons can see it.Businesses are also required to follow public health guidelines, including the use of face coverings, increased sanitation, and rotocals for social distancing. 989
