With coronavirus cases spreading among White House staff, the Commission on Presidential Debates confirmed Monday evening that a Plexiglas partition will be used on stage during Wednesday’s vice presidential debate.Peter Eyre, a senior adviser to the debate commission, said that the candidates will be seated 12 feet, 3 inches apart, and that there will be no handshakes allowed on stage between the candidates or moderator.Eyre added that the candidates, Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris, will be tested for the coronavirus before the debate. For the previous debate, the candidates were responsible for their own coronavirus testing.Only the candidates and moderator will be allowed to not wear a mask during the debate, also a change from last week’s presidential debate. But that doesn’t mean kids can’t learn at home.Dorogi says children ages 3 to 5 can learn math using everyday items.“If I have five Cheerios on the table this is what five looks like and it’s a small amount compared to when I have ten Cheerios on the table,” Dorogi said.Playing with dolls or action figures can help language skills, forcing children to talk and put sentences together. Playtime is motor skills time.“Our little guys can actually improve their handwriting by playing with play dough or doing anything that’s a small motor that strengthens their hand muscles,” Dorogi said.If you want to introduce virtual learning, Dorogi suggests Osmo’s starter kit. The Army Corps of Engineers said the system will stop providing adequate protection in as little as four years because of rising sea levels and shrinking levees.There are up to 100,000 miles of levees nationwide, most of them in serious need of repair.Levees received a "D" on the American Society of Civil Engineers' national infrastructure report card.“Where you have a challenge is those areas that are not yet protected. That’s going to be a problem and where they are outside the levees in some distance and there isn’t any normal flood protection,” said Galloway.Galloway's life's work is in flooding, partially with the Army Corps of Engineers.
