SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Border Patrol is searching for the people on board a Panga boat that washed ashore near Sunset Cliffs.A neighbor says they heard a dog barking around 3 a.m. Monday morning then saw the boat while on a morning walk.The boat has “Ensenada. B.C.” painted on the bow. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As the federal government failed to pass a new spending measure to fund several agencies through the new year, a partial government shutdown went into effect late Friday.TSA agents in San Diego, categorized as essential employees, will return to work Saturday but without pay under the partial shutdown. Many other employees will also be required to work without pay, including: The Department of Homeland SecurityThe Justice DepartmentThe Interior DepartmentThe State DepartmentThe Department of Housing and Urban Development"Mortgages, car payments, things of that nature, Border Patrol agents will have to find a way to make ends meet, even while they're not receiving their paychecks," Joshua Wilson, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, told 10News. Though, Wilson added a shutdown was worth ensuing more border security for him and other agents. "It's about darn time Congress do something about border security. They keep punting, and we're very, very tired of it. The Internal Revenue Service, NASA, and the National Park Service will likely see employees furloughed, the latter of which could be seen as San Diego's Cabrillo National Monument closed Saturday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cheer on floats, marching bands, and colorful cars will roll down the streets of Hillcrest and Balboa Park in July for the annual San Diego Pride Parade. The parade, which is San Diego’s largest single-day civic event, attracts some 250,000 people every year. Marching begins at the Hillcrest Pride Flag at University Avenue and Normal Street. The parade moves west down University, turns south on Sixth Avenue, left onto Balboa Drive, and ends at Quince Drive. The parade is free for spectators, but you’ll want to bring cash to buy water or food from one of the businesses along the route. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As we continue to work through the pandemic, a couple of Carmel Valley kids are working to spread “some good news” for San Diegans. Brothers Zach and Asher Swazey are putting together their own newscasts.Its called “SGN San Diego.” The newscast is filled with good news.“You want to have something that will affect people in a positive way,” says 13-year-old Zach.The brothers are now working on episode two. They say it was a lot of work putting everything together.“It took us 2-3 weeks,” says ten-year-old Asher. “We went through multiple stages of editing. It took a little of time to make the script and film.”The boys say they were inspired to start SGN San Diego after watching actor and filmmaker John Krasinski on Youtube.The boys say their video is getting more views, but their headline is to make people feel good.“When you’re making a YouTube channel, it’s not about how many likes you get or how many subscribers, it’s how it affects people.”The brothers say their parents are also a big help. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Bea Pesenti recently moved back to Italy after living in San Diego for more than a decade, now she and her fiance are quarantined in their apartment."I do worry about if this continues, how can we afford to live? How anyone can afford to live if you're not working," Pesenti asked.For the last two weeks she has been unable to work or leave her home, unless it's to get groceries.RELATED: FDA approves San Diego company's new coronavirus test-kit"We’ve been on lock down since March ninth," she said. "The issue that I’m starting to feel is there’s no light at the end of the tunnel."Italy's death toll has risen to more than 4,000. Pesenti said every hour she would hear ambulance sirens driving by her home, a painful reminder of the devastation caused by the coronavirus."Had we done things differently, maybe we would be looking at that end of the tunnel," she said.
