SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 12-year-old girl riding a skateboard down a City Heights hill was seriously injured Wednesday when she crashed into the back of a minivan, San Diego police said.According to police, the crash happened just before 5:30 pm. at the intersection of Estrella and Polk avenues.Police said a Toyota Sienna was traveling northbound in the 4000 block of Estrella Avenue when it entered the intersection. The skateboarder going downhill on eastbound Polk Avenue “failed to stop” at the intersection and collided with the minivan’s left rear bumper cover.The girl sustained major injuries, including a fractured skull and brain bleed, according to police. She was rushed to Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment; her condition is unknown. 758
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A boy who went missing on his way home from school Tuesday afternoon has been found safe, police say. The boy’s parent’s called police to report him missing around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police could be seen in San Diego's Skyline neighborhood searching for the boy. Police say the boy usually walks home from school. According to police, the 9-year-old was found at a McDonald's. 405
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A driver says she lost control of her Honda Civic and slammed into a home in Encanto early Tuesday morning.The incident happened at around 2:45 a.m. on Otay Street, according to San Diego police.Despite the trail of destruction left behind, no one was injured.The homeowner said he heard the crash and had no idea what happened until he saw the destruction to his kitchen, with appliances pushed across the floor.Police are investigating the incident. 478
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two 7-Eleven stores located within two miles of each other in San Diego were robbed by a man with a gun and the suspect in each incident was at-large Saturday morning.The first occurred at 11:10 p.m. in the 4200 block of Voltaire Street, near Catalina Boulevard, in the Point Loma Heights neighborhood, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The suspect walked into the store and approached the clerk, then lifted his shirt and showed the clerk the handle of a gun in his waistband and demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect an unknown amount of money and the man ran out of the store southbound on Catalina Boulevard, Heims said.The second robbery occurred at 12:45 a.m. Saturday at 3185 Midway Drive, near Sports Arena Boulevard, when a man walked into the store, lifted up his shirt and pulled a gun from his waistband, placed it on the counter facing the clerk and demanded money, Heims said.The clerk gave the gunman an unknown amount of money and the suspect put the gun back in his waistband then ran from the store northbound on East Drive into the Target parking lot, Heims said.In both robberies, the suspect was described as a white man, late 20s to early 30s, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with short brown hair and a mustache. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 7-year-old child was struck by a car while looking at Christmas lights in Ocean Beach Monday night. According to police, the incident happened around 6:30 on the 4700 block of Newport Avenue. Police say the family was looking at Christmas lights when the child didn’t see a car coming, walked out into the street and was struck by a car. The young boy was taken to the hospital with a broken leg. Police say the driver remained at the scene. Alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor. 511
