POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - The City of Poway activated Tuesday a hotline for students to report potential threats to schools. The change comes after a series of threats to San Diego County schools in the days after the Parkland shootings.Messages left on the Poway hotline will be monitored around the clock by the Poway Sheriff’s Station. Callers can remain anonymous.POWAY SCHOOL THREAT HOTLINE844-PUSD-TIP844-787-3847Calls regarding schools that are not in the City of Poway will be sent to the appropriate authorities, city officials said."With threats increasing everywhere, the more eyes and ears we can have in the community, the better,” Poway Mayor Steve Vaus said in a statement. “The hotline will remove barriers that might keep law enforcement from receiving critical information in a timely manner. Poway is the safest city in the County and we intend to keep it that way.RELATED: Timeline shows threats made to San Diego County schoolsVaus suggested the hotline to the Poway City Manager last week. The hotline has the support of the Poway Unified School District, which operates 40 schools in Poway, San Diego, and unincorporated San Diego County communities. The change comes as the district prepares to meet with parents about student safety. The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel High School Performing Arts Center, 9550 Carmel Mountain Road. 1387

President Donald Trump and Alec Baldwin engaged in a Twitter feud Friday morning after the President mocked the actor's impression of him on "Saturday Night Live.""Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch," Trump said on Twitter, at first misspelling Baldwin's name as "Alex" before fixing."Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!" Trump said, referring to the former SNL cast member who formerly portrayed him.Baldwin, who made his debut on SNL as Trump during the 2016 campaign, quickly shot back."Agony though it may be, I'd like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago. You know. The Good Stuff. That we've all been waiting for," the actor tweeted.Next, he tweeted: "Looking forward to the Trump Presidential Library. A putting green. Recipes for chocolate cake. A live Twitter feed for visitors to post on. A little black book w the phone numbers of porn stars. You're in and out in five minutes. Just like..."  1166

President Donald Trump is expected to address the media Friday afternoon at 5 ET following a report citing several unnamed sources claiming Trump made disparaging remarks about military servicemembers killed in the line of duty. The report was published late on Thursday by the Atlantic and immediately prompted Trump to react. Sources told the Atlantic that Trump called fallen servicemembers “losers” and “suckers.”Trump, who usually does not speak to the media when returning to the White House on trips, responded late Thursday night by denying the report’s accuracy. On Friday, rather than holding a typical White House news briefing, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany made a statement denying the report and left the briefing room without taking questions. In addition to the Atlantic’s story, the Associated Press, Washington Post and Fox News were able to independently confirm the accuracy of much of the report with their sources. 944

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he is quitting the Iran nuclear deal, pitting him against the United States' closest allies and leaving the future of Tehran's nuclear ambitions in question."I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal," Trump said from the White House."It is clear to me that we cannot prevent an Iranian nuclear bomb under the decaying and cotton structure of the current agreement," he said. "The Iran deal is defective at its core. If we do nothing we know exactly what will happen."In announcing his decision, Trump will initiate new sanctions to go forward, crippling the touchstone agreement negotiated by his predecessor, according to a US official and a person familiar with the plan."The so-called Iran deal was supposed to protect the United States and our allies from the lunacy of an Iranian nuclear bomb, a weapon that will only endanger the survival of the Iranian regime," the President said. "In fact, the deal allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium and over time reach the brink of a nuclear breakout."The President added: "Today, we have definitive proof that this Iranian promise was a lie."Senior Trump administration officials -- including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats -- have said Iran is adhering to its commitments under the deal. But Trump has argued while they may be sticking to the letter of the accord, they have violated its spirit by fostering discord in the region.Trump derided the deal as an embarrassment that gave the regime dollars at the same time it sponsored terrorism."At the point when the US had maximum leverage, this disastrous deal gave this regime -- and it's a regime of great terror -- many billions of dollars, some of it in actually cash -- a great embarrassment to me as a citizen," Trump said. The sanctions could take months to go into effect as the US government develops guidance for companies and banks. But reapplying the sanctions -- which were lifted in exchange for Iran's commitment to curb its nuclear program -- would cripple the 2015 accord that Trump has deemed "the single worst deal I've ever seen drawn by anybody."Long a harsh critic of the nuclear accord, Trump has until now resisted taking steps to fully withdraw from the plan.It further isolates Trump on the global stage, where he has angered even the staunchest US allies by reneging on US commitments to the Paris climate accord and pulling out of the Trans Pacific Partnership trade agreement. The grace period until the sanctions are imposed may offer the deal's proponents an opening to negotiate. But the uncertainty is expected to forestall foreign investments in Iran that were made possible by the pact.Trump was keeping his decision closely held on Tuesday morning. Marc Short, the President's legislative director, said lawmakers would be notified later Tuesday afternoon.  2949
