SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Windmill Farms Community Market in Del Cerro is asking for the public's help locating their stolen trailer.The family-owned grocery store has been serving San Diego since 2003 with a mission to provide healthy, organic foods at affordable prices. Surveillance video from the early morning hours on Sunday captures a white SUV with black rims circling the market. At around 4:30 a.m. the SUV hauls off the trailer. “Just unbelievable," said Michael Villegas, produce manager and buyer. “That trailer was a big part of our business; everything we had for our events was in that trailer."Villegas is also in charge of the store's community events, like bringing food to the Lake Murray 4th of July Fireworks and bringing fresh produce to schools. “Schools depend on us to do the events, if we have to start over it’s going to be tough," said Villegas.The trailer held all their tents, tarps, tables, and BBQ's.Villegas estimates the loss at around ,000. “I just hope we can get it back, you know, that would be awesome if we could get it back, if anybody seen anything give us a call," said Villegas. A spokesperson for San Diego Police says a report was filed and a detective should get the case in a few days. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) —  Christmas came early for Haley Proctor; a soon-to-be single mom and hospital corpsman with the U.S. Navy, based at Camp Pendleton."Thank you so much. I appreciate it!" Proctor exclaimed as she received a re-furbished 2017 Toyota Corolla.Before she arrived, the Corolla was loaded with items from a simple wish list: Diapers, baby clothes, a stroller, a car seat, and a teddy bear in a blue vest. All are the same color as the car. It's much needed transportation. "Drive back & forth to work and take my daughter to daycare and go to the grocery store and things I was doing on foot," she said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two men are dead after a shooting near a Mountain View park Sunday afternoon. Two black men, ages 33 and 37, were shot in the upper body, San Diego Police said. Both men died at the hospital.The shooting happened around 1:20 p.m. Sunday near South 40th Street and Ocean View Boulevard. Police said the victims were standing near the Mountain View Community Center when they were shot.The suspect is described as a black man wearing dark clothing.South 40th Street was closed between Teak Street and Hemlock Street while police investigated the crime.The circumstances leading up to the shooting are not known.Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 776

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While San Diego has several desirable neighborhoods, Solana Beach may take the cake.That's according to a recent survey by financial website 24/7 Wall St., which named the coastal city one of the best places to live in America. Solana Beach ranked seventh on the list of 50 cities, based on its walkability, commute times, and attractions."Located less than 30 minutes from downtown San Diego, area residents have access to jobs and entertainment located in the major urban area," the website wrote. "The city is also home to one of only three train stations in San Diego County, providing commuters more options. For recreation, the city boasts 1.7 miles of beach, and a higher than average per capita concentration of restaurants, gyms, museums, and movie theaters."The website used data affordability, economy, quality of life, and community to develop its best cities list. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - US Coast Guard officers will be out in full force over the holiday weekend. They've launched Operation Dry Water to help cut down on the number of arrests for people boating under the influence of drugs or alcohol."We want everybody to have a great time and do it in a safe manner," says Lt. Commander Ellen Motoi, the Chief of Enforcement for the San Diego Sector of the Coast Guard."We're going to have a lot more boats out there from the local side, as well as Harbor Police. They'll be promoting safety and looking for boaters under the influence," says Motoi.Alcohol is the leading cause of boating accidents, according to the Coast Guard. They look for erratic speed, dangerous course headings and boats coming too close to other vessels as warning signs that someone may be drunk while operating a boat.Operation Dry Water is a nationwide program. In 2018, they made 494 BUI arrests and issued 7,305 other citations.Like driving, the legal limit for alcohol while operating a boat is .08. Anyone arrested for BUI could face jail time, a loss of their license/credentials and a hefty fine.Aside from BUI, Motoi says the emphasis of Operation Dry Water focuses on safety."It's not worth it," says Motoi. "We encourage everyone to think twice before you get on a boat."Motoi says the most common mistake people make is not to wear a life jacket. The Coast Guard says 80% of all drownings happen because people aren't wearing one.The Coast Guard also wants boaters to know they shouldn't shoot off flares or fireworks from their boats.
