SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego man with Down syndrome met the man who saved his life by donating a kidney for the first time Wednesday. James Wellman met his donor, Paul Williams, for the first time after having his life-saving surgery.Wellman was diagnosed with Down syndrome when he was born, and in 2017 his kidneys were functioning at only 12 percent.His family grew concerned after he was rejected for a transplant by several programs in Southern California. 477

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A sign advertising a block party at the home of a registered sex offender is causing concern in Rancho Bernardo.“We would like to invite you and your kids to a neighborhood get together” read the sign, which was posted outside a home on Bernardo Oaks Drive in the Seven Oaks retirement neighborhood this week.“I always keep an eye on that house because I know there’s a registered sex offender that lives there,” said Susan Sutherland.Sutherland told 10News she looked up her community on the Megan’s Law website four years ago and found a listing for a neighbor who had had been convicted of lewd acts on a child under 14, according to Sutherland“I come from a background of abuse. I can’t live with myself if I allow a child to get hurt. I can’t live with that,” Sutherland said.The sign was posted by the contractor who recently renovated the home, which is owned by the man's mother. 10News reached out to Elor Energy, which said it had no prior knowledge of the man's past. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An audit released by the San Diego Police Department Thursday showed they had purged 58 names from their registry of gang members. The names are collected in a database known as CalGang. 42 of the records were cleared because they had passed a 5-year purge mark. Four of the people had died and 12 had been removed due to unrevealed “discretionary” reasons. The results were released at a special joint meeting of the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee and the Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention. At the meeting, Dr. Rodney Hood, the chair of the gang commission also unveiled their annual report. It revealed, as of March 2017, there were 76 documented gangs in San Diego. Overall, it reports there are 3,815 gang members identified in 2017 compared to 4,052 last year. 849
