The body of a missing Texas police chief who fell overboard while on a fishing boat was recovered Sunday morning, the US Coast Guard said.Kemah Police Chief Chris Reed was on the boat with his wife in Galveston Bay on Friday afternoon when it was hit by a wake of a passing vessel.His body was found about 8 a.m. a mile and a half north of the Texas City Dike in Texas City, the Coast Guard said.Reed's wife remained on the boat and was not injured. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time, Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Caren Damon told reporters.Kemah is on Galveston Bay about 40 miles from Houston.Coast Guard crews searched more than 650 square miles over some 40 hours.About 40 vessels, including 15 from the Coast Guard, searched, the Coast Guard said. An aircrew and a team of drones -- along with 12 state, local and federal agencies -- were involved, said Tom Munoz, emergency management coordinator for Texas City."Number one, he's just a great cop, just to start off with. He's been in this county a long time, working for several different agencies," said Texas City Police Chief Joe Stanton before the body was located. "We're a tight-knit group. He's one of ours. The mystery surrounding a little boy found sleeping on a Buffalo porch continues to grow. Buffalo Police updated the media late Tuesday morning, describing this as a, "very, very complicated case." Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo says they are working closely with the boy's grandparents who recently arrived from Florida. The boy's grandmother tells 7 Eyewitness News reporter Ali Touhey the boy's name is Noelvin and that they intend to take custody of him. Meantime, we're told, the toddler's parents, 24-year-old Nicole Mersed and 31-year-old Miguel Valentin, haven't made contact with their family since Sunday. According to police, they will be issuing pictures of Noelvin's parents and a family friend, anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the department's homicide unit at 716-851-4466. The boy's grandmother tried to take custody of him, but that request was temporarily denied. She's expected to be back in Buffalo in October for a custody hearing. 1005

  

The Department of Homeland Security has suspended all flights between the U.S. and Venezuela.Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan determined that conditions in Venezuela threaten the safety and security of passengers, aircraft, and crew, requiring an immediate suspension of all commercial passenger and cargo flights between the United States and Venezuela. The Secretary of State has approved flight suspension and the Secretary of Transportation has implemented the determination.The move is based on ongoing political instability and increased tensions in the country, and associated inadvertent risk to flight operations, a press release said.According to DHS, if and when the conditions in Venezuela change, and if in the public interest, the Secretaries will revisit this determination. Until then, the flight suspension will remain in effect indefinitely. 892

  

Target joins Dollar General and several smaller stores that will briefly open for seniors only. Target also said that it is reducing hours as demand for supplies are causing products to be out of stock amid a shopping frenzy amid the spread of coronavirus. Starting on Wednesday, Target will open all of its locations for the first hour each Wednesday for "vulnerable guests." Target said those who are elderly and with underlying health concerns are invited to shop during the first hour of store open on Wednesday. The retailer said it is encouraging other guests to plan their shopping trips around this timeframe.Target will also close daily at 9 p.m. until further notice.“Families are counting on Target for critical supplies during this challenging time, and we’ll continue to do all that we can to keep our stores open. For weeks, we’ve been responding to the impact of the coronavirus by taking care of our team, rigorously cleaning our stores and helping our guests find the food, medicine and other essentials they need for themselves and their families,” said Brian Cornell, Chairman and CEO of Target. “As our team continues to adapt to the country’s fast-changing needs, we’re announcing plans to reduce our store hours and offer dedicated shopping hours for vulnerable guests.
