A chicken processing plant in central California will close for about a week starting Tuesday for deep cleaning and to test every employee for COVID-19 after at least eight employees have died from the virus.The Foster Farms Livingston Poultry Complex in Merced County was declared an outbreak site at the end of June, and county health officials have been working with the company to implement safety measures before the shutdown was ordered.In addition to the eight employees who have died, 392 have tested positive for COVID-19.“We agree that the best approach to ensuring the future safety of our Livingston plant workers is to begin anew with a clean slate,” a statement from the company reads. A hospital in Orange County, California was locked down Tuesday morning after police said someone at the facility called and claimed to have a gun.The incident was reported just after 8:15 a.m. local time at the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.Santa Ana police said they received a call from someone inside the hospital claiming to be in possession of a gun. The caller did not say anything further, police said.The hospital was locked down as a precaution while about 40 officers conducted a floor-to-floor search, including the facility’s basement and roof.  608

A man is hospitalized after a flight heading to Tulsa, Okla. was diverted to Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport due to an odor on-board.A Frontier Airlines flight that took off from San Diego had to land in Phoenix due to the odor, fire officials said.The plane landed without incident and most passengers were able to de-board from the plane, a Phoenix fire spokesman said. Seventeen people were evaluated as a precaution after an "odor came through the plane and was then gone," a fire spokesman said.
