SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego State says 120 more confirmed and probably coronavirus cases have been reported in the school's off- and on-campus student population.The new cases bring SDSU's total student COVID-19 count to 184 cases since the fall semester began last week.The school says county health officials it investigating "multiple clusters" of coronavirus cases among students in the university community, including a previously announced outbreak on Wednesday.RELATED: San Diego State moves all classes online for 4 weeks as student cases riseOfficials say among the cases, 14 groups have been identified within different locations. Some of these groups may eventually be linked to outbreaks.SDSU says none of the cases under investigation are related to on-campus educational activities, including classes or labs. No known cases have been reported in school faculty, staff, visitors, or vendors.The school advised that all undergraduates students who have attended gatherings or think they may have been exposed should get tested and isolate themselves. The county estimated that each SDSU student case averages 4.5 contacts each.“SDSU undergrads need to stay home within their living units this weekend and help us stop the spread within your campus community,” said Wilma Wooten, County public health officer. “If you have been to parties and social events, you need to get tested, now. And isolate until you get results.”Students can call 2-1-1 or their medical providers and stay home if they become ill. They may also contact Student Health Services at 619-594-4325 (Monday through Friday) or the Nurse Call Line at 858-225-3105 (after hours and during weekends and holidays). The big theme of the night was housing and homelessness, and Assemblymember Todd Gloria, Councilmember Barbara Bry, and community activist Tasha Williamson came prepared with answers."I will move homeless services to the offices of the mayor, currently it's outsourced to the housing administration, it sends a message its not a priority for this mayor or this City Hall," Gloria said.Gloria put the onus on himself if elected to solve homelessness, while Bry had a more collaborative approach, wanting to pressure the county for more help."I believe it is much more effective to send social workers out with iPads to talk to homeless individuals where they are, to send out social workers, not police officers," Bry said.But the biggest applause lines of the night came from political outsider Williamson, who pushed her platform for police oversight."We have been criminalized all our lives and the time is up, the time is now, we are going to stop it, we are going to be a sweeping sea of change when we talk about police accountability, rogue officers do not belong here, they will have too look for another job somewhere else," Williamson said.But it was the scooter issue that brought out the biggest punches."A few days ago I talked to [the San Diegan] who's wife is in critical condition at UCSD with skull fractures and severe bleeding after falling off a scooter, I was in tears after talking with him," Bry started. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld’s rescue team is in full swing, rescuing more than 150 animals and birds so far this year. More than 80 marine mammals and over 75 birds have so far been rescued in 2019, with the goal of rehabilitating and returning them to their homes, SeaWorld says. On April 2, the team rescued a 10-month-old sea lion pup with a two-inch cut on its flipper from a coastal rock in Ocean Beach. After being treated, the team hopes to return him to the wild in six to eight weeks. Wednesday, the team also returned 13 rehabilitated sea lions to the ocean. SeaWorld San Diego has rescued more than 20,000 animals over the last 55 years, according to a news release. 687
