Jerry Springer is returning to daytime TV to hold court, literally.The former host of "The Jerry Springer Show" has inked a deal with NBC for a new show, "Judge Jerry," that will feature the veteran talk show host as a judge in a courtroom. James Shaw never intended to become a hero when he walked into Waffle House on Murfreesboro Pike in Antioch, Tennessee at 3 a.m. on Sunday, but the 29-year-old single father likely saved dozens of lives when he managed to wrestle a loaded AR-15 from the hands of a gunman.James and his friend BJ McMurry had been at a bar nearby on Saturday night. They had initially stopped at the Waffle House on Bell Road but decided it was too crowded and instead drove to the Murfreesboro Pike restaurant, not knowing the chaos and carnage that would soon unfold.For James, a Tennessee State University graduate, the gunfire at first sounded like dozens of plates falling from behind the counter. As the front windows began shattering though, he knew something was wrong."It was pretty chaotic," James said a few hours after the shooting.As Metro Police said Travis Reinking was unloading round after round inside the busy restaurant, James noticed the gun jammed and saw an opportunity to act."It wasn't a process of thinking, it was more of a now... I have to do this now or it's not gonna be. If I let him reload this weapon there won't be another chance. It was like shooting fish in a barrel," James recalled.James Shaw managed to wrestle the weapon from the hands of Travis Reinking. The barrel of the gun was so hot it singed the skin off of his hands and fingers. He would later be taken to the hospital and treated for third degree burns.Metro Police said his actions saved the lives of countless patrons inside the Waffle House but James is still focused on the four people who didn't make it out."I'm sorry I couldn't get to them any faster. LA JOLLA (CNS) - A woman's body was found Sunday on the shoreline below cliffs in La Jolla, police said.At 6:40 a.m., someone found the body about 75 feet below the cliffs near Coast Walk, north of Torrey Pines Road, according to Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.Lifeguards recovered the body, which was taken with a Jet Ski to La Jolla Shores, where they met with officials from the county Medical Examiner's Office.There was no additional information on the victim, Martinez said. 514

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City FBI agent who rushed to help survivors at the Pentagon on 9/11 died Thursday from brain cancer.Melissa S. Morrow, 48, died after a long battle with the disease. Morrow was certified by The World Trade Center Health Program and the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, and as a result of her actions on 9/11, her death is classified as a line of duty death.Morrow was working in the FBI’s Washington Field Office at the time of the attack.When the plane hit the Pentagon, Morrow, who was 31 at the time, responded to the crash site and spent the next 10 weeks there and at an evidence warehouse. During those 10 weeks, Morrow was exposed to hazardous contaminants.Les Kerry, Team Leader of the Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team, said that Special Agent Morrow’s death is a chilling reminder that the 9/11 tragedy continues to take lives. “Just an average citizen who didn’t know her, it’s going to bring back some memories of where you were that day of the tragedy and the travesty that took place on 911 and the days and months to follow,” said Kerry.  Morrow served in the Kansas City office from 2010 to 2018.She will be given a hero’s burial with bagpipes playing taps, a 21 gun salute, and a flyover. Morrow is survived by her mother, father and sister.Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri.
