As the chaotic 2020 presidential race enters its final stretch, Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris will square off in a debate at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday in Salt Lake City.The COVID-19 pandemic will be at the forefront of Wednesday's debate — both literally and figuratively. Trump, 74, was the oldest candidate ever to be elected president in 2016, and Biden, 77, is three years older than Trump. Amid a global pandemic, voters may be taking a keen interest in each administration's chain of command.The Trump campaign is banking on a strong performance from Pence amid slumping poll numbers. An average of national polls shows Biden leading Trump by about nine percentage points, and a recent CNN poll released this week showed that 57% of likely voters favored Biden, compared to just 41% for Trump.Wednesday may also mark the last debate for at least a few weeks. Ashland University in Ohio is offering a new ,000 scholarship to talented Fortnite players."Fortnite Battle Royale" will be offered in fall 2018 as part of the university's esports program.The AU esports team will be the first known program in the country to add the game to its official offerings. Head Coach Josh Buchanan is excited to add the popular game to the college's gaming titles."Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience," said Buchanan in a news release. "We're excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space."The team at Ashland will arrange four-player teams that practice regularly and compete together.Scholarships will be awarded to players based on skill level and academic requirements.The university plans to conduct open tryouts for Fortnite players next school year. Ashland already offers League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League in their esports program. The coach hopes eventually other schools will for programs to set up collegiate leagues for the team to compete against.  1184

Attorneys for former FBI Director James Comey and the US House of Representatives fought in court Friday afternoon over whether Comey must testify to Congress in a private hearing next week.While Comey technically seeks to pause or kill the subpoena, he is using the case to air his accusation that members of the Republican-led House and Senate selectively leak details for their own benefit when they call witnesses to testify in private.Attorneys for the House called Comey's request "so extraordinary and frivolous that, as far as undersigned counsel is aware, no district court in the history of the Republic has ever granted such a request."Judge Trevor McFadden said at the hearing that he hoped to rule Monday morning after meeting again with both legal teams.The meat of Friday's dispute was how each side characterizes Comey's congressional subpoena. Comey's team says Congress is in violation of its own rules by not conducting its fact-finding hearing in public. The hearing won't require that level of secrecy because no sensitive law enforcement information is expected to be discussed, Comey's team said.The House general counsel countered that because Comey's testimony would be a deposition with staff, a public session isn't required.McFadden asked whether Comey could release a transcript of his testimony to get the full picture before the public. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Austin City Limits has joined the ranks of major music festivals that have been canceled because of the coronavirus. Festival organizers said in a statement Wednesday that scrapping the three-day October event was "the only responsible solution." "Austin City Limits Music Festival will no longer take place in 2020," organizers said in the statement. "We would have loved to put on another memorable show this year, however, with the uncertainty surrounding the current situation in Texas, this decision is the only responsible solution. The health and safety of our fans, artists, partners, staff, and the entire Austin community remain our highest priority."Organizers said they plan to celebrate their 20th anniversary at next year's festival in October.The announcement comes as Texas reported a record daily high of nearly 7,000 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday and Republican Gov. Authorities in Costa Rica say that a body has been found on the Airbnb property where missing Florida woman, 36-year-old Carla Stefaniak, was staying.Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) tells WFTS that the body was buried in a mountainous area located in the back of the property, less than 200 feet away from where Stefaniak had been staying. OIJ agents had been searching the area with specialized dogs. At this time, authorities have not been able to confirm that the body is Stefaniak.In Spanish, Walter Espinoza, the director general of the OIJ said, “the body was in a state of decomposition but the preliminary observation does verify the body is a woman.”In a press conference on Monday, Espinoza said that biological fluids consistent with blood were discovered inside the Airbnb property. The blood has been sent to labs for testing.The body cannot be positively identified by officials until an autopsy is performed.Stefaniak hasn't been seen or heard from since Tuesday, November 27. She traveled to Costa Rica with her sister-in-law, April Burton, on November 22 to celebrate her birthday. Burton flew back on November 27. Stefaniak had plans to return to the United States on November 28, bound for Florida, but never arrived for her flight. She checked into her Airbnb, located at Calle Hoja Blanca in San Antonio de Escazú, for one night on November 27. According to Burton, the last thing they knew about Stefaniak was that she was inside that Airbnb on the night of November 27. The last time Burton spoke to Stefaniak, she told her that it was raining crazy and the power went out. She continued with, "it's pretty sketchy here," according to Burton.The final photograph Stefaniak sent family members was from inside the Airbnb. Family members shared the image with WFTS, seen below.</p><p>"The guards (at the apartment complex that housed the Airbnb) told us that she left at 5 in the morning with all of her bags and got into an Uber. She wouldn’t do that, her flight was at 1:30 p.m. She’s never been early for anything in her life she wouldn’t leave to go to the airport at 5:30 a.m.," Burton said.The Airbnb listing for "Villa Buena Vista" has since been removed from Airbnb's website.WFTS spoke to Airbnb officials, who say they have reached out to Carla's family as well as the FBI, OIJ and the local embassy.Stefaniak's brother flew down to Costa Rica on Friday to search for his sister.
