Each had makeup, hair, and wardrobe provided thanks to Macy's. “Today’s fashion show is all about friendships," said Mary Johnson with the community outreach team. "Friendships are just as important as taking good care of yourself, exercising, and good nutrition. As we get older friendships get even more important."Ladies who modeled said the day made them feel special and confident. “A lot of people when they get to be our age don’t want to do anything different. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — St. Augustine High School, an all-boys Catholic school in North Park, has filed a lawsuit against California Gov. Gavin Newsom and other state officials to allow the school to reopen for in-person instruction.The school says that after holding its summer school and athletic programs in-person for more than 400 students without any reports of COVID-19 cases, they are seeking to stop the state's enforcement against in-person classes during the pandemic this fall."At Saints, we don’t believe remote learning is sufficient to provide a quality education our students are entitled to and our families have come to expect," said Principal James Horne. "We are confident we can open our school safely, consistent with CDC and San Diego County health guidance. We ran a safe and successful summer school program and believe it is an indicator that we can safely return to school in the fall."The school says it adhered to the county's public health guidelines and safety measures during its summer programs, including required to face masks, social distancing requirements, air conditioning systems using UV lights to sanitize the air, and buildings and classrooms being regularly sanitized with an electrostatic disinfecting mist system.St. Augustine also said a distance learning option would still be offered for families who don't want to send their children back to school in-person."After appeals from many families to return to the classroom, Saints is pursuing the best way to offer opportunities that are the right fit for all its students and families," the school said. 1604

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Six San Diego inmates had to be treated with an overdose drug this month after deputies say they were showing signs of a fentanyl overdose.The San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) said the overdoses happened just after 4 p.m. on Dec. 4 at San Diego Central Jail. The six inmates were given various doses of the drug Naloxone to reverse the effects of their overdoses.All inmates regained alertness and were taken to a nearby hospital for care.Deputies searched the cells of the affected inmates and discovered pills possibly laced with fentanyl, according to SDSO.The department says it's taking several approaches to stop drugs from entering jails, including x-ray body scanners, screening of visitors who may be smuggling drugs into jails, and overdose awareness and contraband detection techniques.SDSO says that about 70% to 80% of people entering their custody are using drugs at the time of arrest or have committed a crime during drug use. 974

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several University Heights residents are searching for a parrot they say flew out of their home and hasn’t been seen since. According to the owners, the 18-year-old parrot named Lily flew out of their home on Rhode Island Street on January 7. According to a Lily’s owners, the bird can fly but isn’t used to it. The parrot has a blue chest and head and the rest of her body is green. The search is becoming more and more dire, according to Lily’s owners. "It really feels very impossible,” said Mary Beth Cruden. On top of Lily not having food and water, nights have been cold across the county. "Really devastated about it. I loved the bird, the bird loved me,” William Smith told 10News. Lily’s empty cage now sits at the end of the driveway. Bird experts say if she smells something familiar she may come home. The family is hoping someone spots their beloved pet. "I would expect her to come walking up that street on her little two feet, she's practically a human being,” Smith said. Smith says if you spot Lily on the ground, hold your fingers close to her chest and she should hop on. Then hold on tight. The pair is offering a 0 reward to anyone who returns Lily. 1203
