SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) — A construction worker was killed in an accident at Monte Vista High School hours after the topping out of the school's new multi-use facility. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened just before 2 p.m.Deputies say the 30-year-old man fell from a beam attached to a 30-foot platform. Deputies and emergency responders performed first aid on the construction worker, but he later died after being taken to the hospital. A second worker was also injured and taken to the hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time, according to the school district. CA-OSHA is investigating the incident and crisis counselors will be made available at the school Thursday. (KGTV) — A 76-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of intentionally sparking a fire that damaged a portion of an East County strip mall.San Diego Sheriff's deputies were called to a Spring Valley strip mall in the 500 block of Grand Ave. on Tuesday at about 8 p.m. over reports of a possible structure fire.When deputies and fire crews arrived, a woman was found nearby and determined to be a suspect. The woman, identified as Leona Head, is a transient in the Spring Valley area, deputies say.Deputies say Head admitted to starting the fire by trying to extinguish a lit cigar with a bottle of liquid labeled "Clorox." The liquid appeared to be a flammable substance and spread the fire to an electrical box adjacent to a strip mall.The fire spread to the roof of the strip mall before crews with San Miguel and Bonita Sunnyside fire departments were able to put out the fire.The fire damaged the exterior of the building and the electrical box. No injuries were reported.Deputies say Head admitted to setting two other fires ruled as accidental. She was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility for arson. 1143

Several Hilltown, Pennsylvania, police officers helped save a distressed horse from a burning barn last week, which was captured by an officer’s body-worn camera.Officer Matthew Reiss told KYW-TV that he did not have much time to get Phoebe the horse out of the barn."Quickly improvise, and come up with a solution to get that animal out,” Reiss said.Other horses were in the barn at the time of the fire and were rescued by friends and family, but Phoebe was reportedly too spooked to follow.That’s when the officers and horse trainer Lena Obernesser teamed to get Phoebe out. Obernesser used a shirt to cover her eyes and push the horse to safety as Reiss used a rope to pull Phoebe to safety. Phoebe then ran to safety."She was definitely terrified, the cops were fantastic though, they jumped right in,” Obernesser told KYW. “I saw the footage and I was just in awe. Like oh my God, thank God they were here."Obernesser credited the officers for rescuing Phoebe.“They really stepped up, we had so many people reaching out,” she said. “it was, I was so proud to be a part of this community."After a week, Phoebe is reportedly in good health. According to the U.S. Justice Department, the former Bears receiver conspired with others to get millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, which he then spent on luxury items.The DOJ said in a press release that Bellamy applied for an received a PPP loan of more than .24 million for his company, Drip Entertainment LLC. Bellamy then allegedly spent more than 4,000 in luxury goods from Dior, Gucci and retail jewelers “using proceeds of his PPP loan,” DOJ said in a press release.Bellamy is also accused of spending more than ,000 in PPP loan proceeds at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and withdrew more than 2,000, the DOJ alleges.Bellamy is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida and played collegiately at Louisville.
