ESTERO, Fla. — A Florida man saved his dog from certain death after he wrestled an alligator that snatched the puppy and dragged the pooch into a pond."He just came out like a missile," 74-year-old Richard Wilbanks of Estero said of the gator that attacked Gunner, his cavalier King Charles spaniel.Wilbanks jumped into the water, pried open the gator's mouth and freed Gunner from the gator's jaws. The rescue was caught on camera by the Florida Wildlife Federation.Wilbanks told CNN that his hands were "just chewed up," but Gunner is doing OK."We live on a shared landscape," Florida Wildlife Federation spokeswoman Meredith Budd told WINK-TV in Fort Myers. "We don't just want to tolerate wildlife, but, rather, we want to thrive with wildlife on a shared landscape."Gunner now takes walks on a leash and away from the water's edge. This story was originally published by Peter Burke on WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida 929

Evacuees who fled the Camp Fire in California are facing norovirus outbreaks in shelters. The Butte County Public Health Department said that 145 people have been sick with vomiting and/or diarrhea since the shelters opened to evacuees and 41 people were experiencing symptoms at four different shelters as of Wednesday evening.Twenty-five people have been to the hospital for medical support, the health department said in a statement."The number of sick people is increasing every day," the statement said.About 9,700 homes were destroyed and 141,000 acres burned in the fire. Facebook is rolling out a series of changes to give people better control of their privacy settings and data. The company's redesigned security settings let people control what personal information the social network and third-party apps keeps. Facebook used to display security tools and settings across 20 different tabs."Last week showed how much more work we need to do to enforce our policies and help people understand how Facebook works and the choices they have over their data," Facebook wrote in a blog post.Facebook responded to the global outcry after an explosive report that a third-party personality quiz harvested 50 million Facebook profiles. Data company Cambridge Analytica used that information to sway the 2016 presidential election. The company is also adding two more tools, including a Privacy Shortcuts menu, where people can add two-factor authentication and control the ads they're served. Facebook's new "Access Your Information" button allows people to delete anything from their timelines or profiles that they no longer want on Facebook, the company says."It's also our responsibility to tell you how we collect and use your data in language that's detailed, but also easy to understand," Facebook concluded in the blog post. "These updates are about transparency -- not about gaining new rights to collect, use, or share data."The past week has been brutal for Facebook. The company?lost billion in market value and faced global backlash about how the company uses personal data. On Tuesday, CNN first reported that CEO Mark Zuckerberg might soon testify in front of the U.S. congress. 1647
