EL CENTRO, Calif. (KGTV) - Two earthquakes shook the Imperial County city of El Centro Monday night. The first quake, which measured a 4.0 magnitude, was 1 kilometer east-northeast of the city at 6:13 p.m. The second quake was a 3.7 about 30 seconds later.A check of the U.S. Geological Survey's 'Did You Feel It' map showed shaking was reported in Calexico, about 12 miles away, and Yuma, Arizona.RELATED: Is there such a thing as earthquake weather?The quakes were "very quick", said an El Centro hotel clerk who did not wish to be identified.A server at Denny's said the shaking made his customers stand up out of concern, but no one was hurt.While no major damage has been reported, the quakes were strong enough to shake overhead lights and topple monitors on display at Staples, according to clerk Krosby Rider. 825

EL CAJON (KGTV) – An El Cajon property owner said a police pursuit in March that ended at her property has led to questions over repairs.Jenny Wu has owned the property in the Villa Madera condominium complex on Mollison Avenue for more than a decade. On March 19, a vehicle crashed into her home, causing extensive damage.According to Wu, she had two elderly renters living there at the time of the crash, with one ending up in the hospital. She said she gave the information about what happened to her homeowner’s association immediately following the incident.More than five months after the crash, her property is still boarded up.Through her translator, she said the HOA wanted to investigate. Wu and her son said communication from the HOA and the property management company on the process to fix the condo has been spotty.Dan Zimberoff is an attorney who specializes in HOA matters.He is not involved in the case, but said the association typically insures common area.“When you have a singular affected homeowner like you do here, many times I see the association allows that homeowner have direct access with the adjuster. It just streamlines the processes and allows that direct communication,” Zimberoff said.Wu was one of the many temporarily laid off from her job at a local casino because of the pandemic. She still pays HOA fees at her condo, which adds up to roughly 0 per month.The president of Property Management Consultants said Team 10 has “been told many inconstancies [sic].” President Hugh Maynard said the insurance company would be contacting Team 10 with information, but the company never reached out. Maynard said the owner did not carry their own insurance and the HOA is paying the deductible.He added that they have kept the “family up on every turn of events” and showed Team 10 emails as proof. EL CAJON (KGTV and wire reports) - El Cajon police are investigating the shooting death of a man that resulted following an argument along a busy street Thursday.Police said gunfire erupted in the 1400 block of East Main Street in El Cajon shortly before 9:30 a.m., about a mile west of Granite Hills High School.Witnesses told 10News that two men were arguing on the sidewalk when one man took out a gun and shot the victim. According to police, an initial investigation indicates that an off-duty security guard tried to stop either a vehicle burglary or a carjacking. At some point, the vehicle's owner got involved, shooting and killing the suspect, police say. The shooter stayed on scene and cooperated before being arrested. (KGTV) - Grandparents and their grandson escaped a house fire in El Cajon Wednesday night but they lost their family cat.The fire broke out in the back room of a home on Gladys St. at 11 p.m.Despite the danger, the grandson ran back into the home to find the cat. He suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics.Another grandson told 10News his grandparents are devastated because they had lived at the home. He started a GoFundMe account to help them recover.The fire was knocked down in 15 minutes.
