Tropical Storm Beta has made landfall on the Gulf Coast of Texas, bringing heavy rain and threats of flooding to the Lone Star state. At least two dozen water rescues were reported in Houston early Tuesday morning. The center of Beta crossed over the southern end of the Matagorda Peninsula at about midnight ET on Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center. TULSA - Two women fought to stay alive as an armed robber broke into a midtown liquor store, the horrifying moments all caught on tape. Just one day after cheating death, when a man tried to a shatter a family for money, Justin Christian and his family are back to work. "You're not going to scare me off from my store this is what feeds my family this is what pays my bills," Owner of Forest Acres Liquor Justin Christian said. And customers were there not just to make purchases, but lay their eyes and hearts on the women who wouldn't give up without a fight. "I basically see a guy walk in the door from this angle and have a sawed off 12 gauge."Justin was out of town when his mother and sister took 36-year-old Tyrone Lee to task; now watching the video with us. "My mom says open the drawer, give him the money, give him the money."They gave him what he wanted then grabbed their guns, trying to lock him in the small room leading into the store.But one door didn't lock. "She's says stop, stop but he's still got the gun."He turns around, and that's when the fight to stay alive truly began. "He reached over, she ducked and fired again, and of course the gun's empty or else my mom and sister would be dead," Justin cried. He said Lee wanted to kill them. "What they're showing on TV ain't the real deal when you really watch it and know it and clean up the blood, and really understand what happened." He's just grateful it wasn't his family's blood he had to wipe from the floor. "The clerks did an outstanding job of fighting him," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker. But more importantly he's grateful for another chance to fight for his family. Tulsa Police said Lee is in critical condition but he's expected to survive; and when he does he'll be under arrest.  1854

Tyler Glenn, lead singer of the popular band Neon Trees, is recovering after suffering a stroke last week.In a post to Instagram on Monday, Glenn, 36, said that he woke up Thursday feeling "foggy and not seeing clearly out of my right eye."Glenn wrote that he held off going to the hospital to see if his condition would improve, but visited an ophthalmologist when he woke up the next morning feeling the same way.The doctor found a retinal edema in Glenn's eye and told him he had suffered a stroke. Glenn was admitted to Intermountain Medical Center for cardiology and neurological tests."I’m quite freaked out being 36, ostensibly healthy and having this happen." said Glenn. "I’m still awaiting reasons why, although my labs and the results show a clean bill of health in my heart and blood."Glenn says he still has cloudy vision in his eye, but was told the condition could dissipate.Glenn ended the post with a health recommendation for all his fans."I appreciate the love and support, and hope I can at least get an answer as to why this occurred. VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) - An unscheduled Veterans Day tribute played out at a cemetery in the North County.More than a week ago, local florist Jenelle Brinneman learned Valley Center's annual Veterans Day program had been canceled by COVID-19, including a ceremony at Valley Center Cemetery.She started raising money online and during her flower deliveries. In the end, she raised enough to place roses at the graves of hundreds of veterans."We have over 300 veterans that laid to rest here and we just wanted to make sure they are remembered," said Brinneman.Donors could nominate veterans for rose bouquets. One of those donors was the family of Robert Cronin, an Army veteran who fought in World War II in France and Germany. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 83."It means a lot to me to have him honored because he was a special part of our lives," said granddaughter Francesca Pappagallo.She says Cronin earned numerous medals, including the Legion of Merit for inventing a slide rule tool to increase the accuracy of cannons. Loved ones thought his rank was 'Colonel,' but after he passed away, a different truth emerged."They did a lot of research and he was actually a retired one-star General.
