A Polk County, Florida woman was arrested earlier this month after she reportedly brought "her meth" with her to a doctor's office to have it tested. Barbara Ray, 73, of Polk County, told the staff at the doctor's office that she had been taking meth for about a month, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. She said she brought the drugs with her so that she and "her meth" could be tested to make sure all was well. The Sheriff's Office was called and a deputy responded to the office. The deputy tested the drugs and found it was in fact methamphetamine. Ray was arrested on November 5. She was charged with 2 counts of Possession of Methamphetamine, and 2 counts of Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. She was booked into the Polk County Jail on Monday, November 5, 2018 and released on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.  864

A proposed state fund would pay rent for people on the brink of eviction to help them avoid homelessness.The 0 million fund is a key part of Gov. Gavin Newsom's budget proposal to address the state's homeless crisis. The fund, called the California Access to Housing and Services fund, could also be used to support the creation of more housing units and help stabilize board and care housing facilities. Newsom is proposing a .4 billion plan as part of his annual budget. Of that, 5 million would go to investments in Medi-Cal. The proposal also calls for the state using its own excess land for the site of new shelters. That includes open space near freeways, decommissioned hospitals and fairgrounds. The Del Mar Fairgrounds board has held preliminary discussions adding housing on the property. In San Diego County, excess property locations are also in downtown, El Cajon and Oceanside. An additional location deemed excess has instead been assigned to serve as a shelter for migrants seeking asylum. Jewish Family Service will operate the facility, and has requested the location not be disclosed due to security reasons. The current migrant shelter at the old family courthouse downtown at 6th and Cedar will close Dec. 31 for redevelopment. 1266

A visitor to Yellowstone National Park was injured by a grizzly bear while hiking near Old Faithful on Monday.According to a park press release, the 37-year-old woman from Missouri was hiking alone on the Fairy Falls Trail when she encountered two grizzly bears "at very close range."One of the bears knocked the woman down, and she suffered a scratch on her thigh. The woman also received minor injuries to her face from the fall. She declined medical attention.The park said the woman attempted to use bear spray during the encounter."From the injured person's statements, this appears to be a typical case of a mother grizzly bear protecting her offspring following a close-range encounter," said Kerry Gunther, a bear management biologist. "Because this bear was displaying natural protective behavior for its cub, no action will be taken against the bear. Several trails in the area will be closed to give the grizzly family group time to clear from the area."Monday's incident marks the first time a bear has injured a visitor in Yellowstone in 2020. The last time a bear injured a visitor in the park was in June 2019 when a black bear bit into an occupied tent and bruised a woman's thigh.Following the incident, the Fairy Falls Trail was cleared of hikers. During the party, he said the nephew interacted with seven relatives, who subsequently contracted the virus and spread it to 10 other family members, including two young children.“When people started getting sick, we really let everyone have it,” Barbosa told WFAA-TV. “We knew this was going to happen, I mean, this whole time this has been going on we’ve been terrified.”Gov.
