He also called for closer cooperation on the APEC Low-Carbon Model Town Project.Fourthly, Hu said it was necessary to encourage innovative growth.The president asked the APEC members to facilitate the cultivation and movement of innovative and high-skilled people, who could provide strong human capital and scientific and technological support for economic development, and promote a shift toward innovation-driven growth."Developed members of APEC should scale up technology transfer and help developing members build capacity for innovative growth," Hu said.Fifthly, Hu said APEC members should work to ensure secure growth to protect the results of economic development, calling for furthering exchanges and cooperation in counter-terrorism, disaster prevention and reduction, food security, energy and resources security and public health.The annual Economic Leaders' Meeting is the top decision-making body of the APEC forum. QINGDAO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan-based EVA Airways Corp. Saturday launched a weekly direct flight service linking southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung City and Qingdao City in eastern Shandong Province.The service will operate on Saturdays. It is the first direct service between the two cities.The flight will increase the number of direct flights between Qingdao and Taiwan to 20 per week, according to Qingdao Airport.Thanks to increased people-to-people exchange between Taiwan and the mainland, Qingdao Airport's passenger traffic to and from Taiwan this year reached 145,495 on Nov. 15, a 55 percent year-on-year increase.

WUHAN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) - Chinese courts would seek to create their own management system for authenticating judicial evidence within the next five years, said Su Zelin, vice president of the Supreme People's Court.Su made the remarks Monday during a meeting held in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.The proposed system, which would further clarify the courts' working procedures and protocols while examining and verifying authenticated evidence, would be based on the current system administered by the Ministry of Justice, said Su.The Supreme People's Court plans to build its own forensic lab and relevant specialist pool to ensure the neutrality and authenticity of evidence used in court proceedings, Su added.
