VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The husband of a Vista woman who went missing in 2017 has been arrested for her murder, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.Hector Martinez was arrested Thursday morning for the murder of Maria Guzman, who was reported missing on October 13, 2017.The couple had been married for 20 years and has three daughters who, at the time of her disappearance, were nine, 15 and 19. According to the department, Martinez reported Guzman missing after the couple got into a fight. Martinez told authorities Guzman went for a walk around 9 p.m., leaving behind her belongings at the family’s Vista apartment. RELATED: Search continues for North San Diego County woman missing for nearly a year  Investigators recently found Guzman's remains in a rural area near Palomar Mountain. VISTA (CNS) - A man has been detained in connection with the death of a woman at a home in Vista, a sheriff's lieutenant said today.Deputies dispatched at 5:55 p.m. Saturday to a home at 475 1/2 Rancho Vista Road, in response to a reported shooting, found a woman suffering from severe injuries, said Lt. Michael Blevins of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.Paramedics rushed the woman to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m. Saturday, he said.The sheriff's Homicide Unit asked anyone with any information regarding the incident to call them at (858) 285-6330. 600

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A backyard workshop in Vista caught fire Sunday afternoon, according to Vista Fire officials. Neighbors said they saw thick black smoke towering into the sky and heard almost a dozen explosions.Neighbor John Ploetz said it sounded, "like a bomb, people up the street heard it.""It takes a minute you know, your brain goes oh it's probably fine, or he's welding you know and then I see there's flames, and no firemen here, and the fence is on fire, I better call 9-1-1," Ploetz said he grabbed his garden hose and worked to contain the fire. He wet down nearby foliage and put out small spot fires on the outside of the fence.Fire officials said the fire started around 12:32 p.m. and arrived at the home in the 1000 block of Ora Avo Drive in minutes. Ploetz said what he did was something anyone would do and he was concerned the fire would spread to other homes nearby. He was shocked when a pine tree burned up in seconds, "it just whoosh! Went up like a torch, it was loud, that was before the firemen got here."The workshop contained propane tanks, and tools for metal art that the homeowner creates as a hobby. The family was at church when the fire started and were thankful no one was hurt. Among the valuables they lost were three boats and a motor home.Firefighters are still investigating the cause. 1340
