LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Staples Center will serve as a vote center for the November election in connection with the agreement to end the boycott of playoff games by NBA players, it was announced Saturday.The agreement between the players' union and league announced Friday to end the boycott included a commitment to work with officials in every NBA city to use team arenas as voting locations for the November election.Voters will be able to cast their ballots at Staples Center beginning Oct. 30 through Election Day, Nov. 3. Staples Center will also act as a vote by mail drop box location for those who prefer to drop off their voted mail-in ballot in an official drop box provided by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.The Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan announced Friday that the Forum in Inglewood will be a vote center for the November election. 932
LONG BEACH (CNS) - A woman was killed early Monday afternoon by a man who used a scooter to assault her on a street in Long Beach.Officers responded about 12:30 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block of North Obispo Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Department Public Information Officer Shaunna Dandoy.``The victim is believed to be a female adult who was walking eastbound towards Obispo and 64th (Street)'' when a man ran up and began assaulting her, Dandoy said.A bystander tried to help, at which time the suspect grabbed a scooter and used it to continue attacking the woman, according to Dandoy.The suspect was last seen running west from the location on foot. Fire department personnel responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene, Dandoy said. Her name and age were not immediately available.Homicide detectives were investigating the fatal assault. 910

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 810
