(CNS) - The Pasadena Tournament of Roses announced that in lieu of the annual parade canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will host a two-hour televised entertainment special on New Year's Day to benefit Feeding America.Event coordinators issued a statement Thursday saying they have partnered with six broadcasters to air the show during the time slot traditionally reserved for live coverage of the Rose Parade. Police in Montgomery County, Maryland, released surveillance footage Thursday from an Aug. 2 attempted carjacking in Bethesda in hopes it will lead to the arrest of the two suspects.Police said at about 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 2, a man was returning to his car parked in the garage of the Westfield Montgomery Mall when two male suspects approached him. They demanded his car key while implying one of the men was armed.The victim complied, but when the suspects got into the car and started it, they realized the car had a manual transmission which neither could drive.The suspects then fled on foot, last seen leaving the second level of the parking garage, as seen in the footage below.Anyone with information about these suspects or the carjacking can call Montgomery County Police at 240-773-5100 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 1-866-411-8477. PARKLAND, Fla. — Three Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students were arrested on Tuesday in separate, unrelated incidents. The Broward County Sheriff's Office says that one student faces a misdemeanor charge for making a threat on social media.Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy responded to the school to investigate a tip and interviewed the 10th-grader about photos he shared on Snapchat. In one image, the teen displays a gun in his waistband. In a second image, he shows off bullets, according to BSO. The detective said both photos had threatening messages; one message was directed to a person named "Josh."BSO detectives found the suspect's action to have interfered with school function and disturbed the peace. The teen was subsequently hospitalized under the Baker Act for being a threat to himself. PHOENIX (KNXV/KGTV) - A small plane that crashed on a Phoenix street Monday morning -- killing both passengers  -- was just sold from a pilot in Solana Beach.The victims have been identified as 54 year-old Theodore Rich and 49 year-old Elaine Carpenter. FAA officials said the aircraft involved is a single-engine, home-built Acroduster. The plane went down in the intersection of 7th St. and Deer Valley Dr., near an FBI field office, at around 6:50 a.m. local time.One eyewitness said he saw the plane go down. At first he thought it was aerobatics, but after seeing the plane heading straight for the ground, he knew something was wrong. Video from the scene showed emergency crews working around debris in the roadway near several damaged cars. Police told media on scene the vehicles had substantial damage but no one on the ground was hurt.10News reporter Lauren Davis talked to Avi Maltzman, the Solana Beach man who just sold the plane to Rich this weekend. Maltzman said he flew with Rich for several touch-and-goes and described Rich as an experienced pilot. Maltzman said Rich even called him from Arizona just to let him know he made it home safely. “He impressed me very well with his flight skills. He did good eight or nine landings. He was comfortable and I felt comfortable with him," said Maltzman.Maltzman said the plane was built by professionally in Santa Barbara in 1993. PICO RIVERA, Calif. -- Firefighters responded after a large apartment complex burst into flames outside of Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.One person was taken to the hospital after the fire. The extent of their injuries is unknown. The fire erupted in Pico Rivera. Firefighters said portions of the roof have collapsed as a result of the fire.The entire apartment complex has been ordered to evacuate.
