Nissan is preparing to oust its chairman, Carlos Ghosn, after announcing the discovery of "significant acts of misconduct" over many years by him and another top executive."Nissan has been providing information to the Japanese Public Prosecutors Office and has been fully cooperating with their investigation," the Japanese carmaker said in a statement. NEW YORK CITY — An ailing swan in Queens was able to get help thanks to a trained wildlife rescuer and the New York City subway.Ariel Cordova-Rojas was on a bike ride around Jamaica Bay last Thursday when she noticed a swan sitting apart from others along the shore."It seemed odd, but swans can be solitary," Cordova-Rojas said. "As I got closer, she stayed stationary. They're usually aggressive and territorial, you can't get close without them trying to attack, and I knew something was wrong."She estimates she carried the 17-pound bird about a mile to the ranger station. Two Good Samaritans helped give her a lift to the subway station at Howard Beach, which she rode about 10 stops to Nostrand Ave;.Cordova-Rojas has worked at the Wild Bird Fund on Columbus Ave. in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and knew they could care for the swan there. More of her friends helped complete the trip by car.Once arriving at the Wild Bird Fund, researchers diagnosed her with lead poisoning. NEW YORK — New York’s attorney general has sent a subpoena to the Trump Organization for records related to consulting fees paid to Ivanka Trump as part of an investigation into the president’s business dealings. That's according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity. The New York Times reported that a similar subpoena was sent to President Donald Trump’s company by the Manhattan district attorney, who is conducting a parallel probe. The records requests followed recent reporting in The Times, based partly on two decades’ worth of Trump’s tax filings, that the president had reduced his company’s income tax liability over several years by deducting million in consulting fees as a business expense.Records strongly suggested, The Times reported, that 7,622 of those fees had been paid to Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter, through a company she owned at a time when she was also a Trump Organization executive.If true, that wouldn’t necessarily pose a problem for Ivanka Trump herself, as long as she paid income tax on the consulting payments, which she reported publicly.It could, however, raise questions about whether the Trump Organization’s related tax deductions were allowable.
