They were at a forum to discuss various topics such as education, culture issues, goals and overcoming obstacles. The event moderator was actor, comedian and Detroit-native Keegan-Michael Key. Also in attendance for the talk was Craig Robinson, vice president of Player Development & G League for the New York Knicks.Robinson also happens to be Obama’s brother. Obama walked in for the big moment, while the gentlemen’s conversation was in full swing. Take a look at the above video to see their reactions.  944

DENVER – Colorado blazed trails when it legalized pot and now Denver could lead the way decriminalizing magic mushrooms. The group Denver for Psilocybin may soon have the all-clear to start gathering signatures so you can vote on it this fall.Gathering at the steps of the Denver City and County building on Wednesday, the group — chanting at times, "free the spores!" — met with city leaders about their push to decriminalize psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms.Tyler Williams, one of the leaders of Denver for Psilocybin, spoke to Scripps station KMGH in Denver about their reasoning behind the push."There's a lot of research for all sorts of mental health issues. Everything from anxiety to depression to cluster headaches, addiction," said Williams. But he said he doesn't need the research to prove his claims. He credits their use saved his life a few years ago. "I had a suicide attempt November 12th of 2015 and I think it helped me get out of my depression, and it's helped me with my PTSD," Williams said. He's not alone. There are a growing number of people turning to psilocybin.Licensed professional counselor Kathy Hawkins treats a few number of people, not during their use, but only before and after."So, I’m a place where they can come and talk about it. So they can make sure they’re being safe about how they’re using, what they're using, why they’re using," said Hawkins.LSD and shrooms were big in the 60's. There was even research to study the effects of the psychedelic compound, but then the government labeled it a Schedule 1 drug; illegal because of its negative physical and psychological effects. However, many point to a study of cancer patients at Johns Hopkins, who experienced a year-long of positive effect from mushrooms."They’re so desperate for help, they’re willing to try. So they've had big breakthroughs, relief from trauma, from anxiety, from depression so anything that's going to help. I think is worth investigating," said Hawkins. 2031

Dear J.B.,You are 31 years old and diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma. You are entering a world that once only seemed to exist in other people’s stories. Suddenly, you are facing decisions about your body and your future that no one should have to make.Despite the risks you are willing to take to survive—you worry about not being able to see your infant son go to kindergarten. This will be your greatest pain. Like all new moms, you have heard many things about the first years of a child’s life. They’re often called the “hardest and most rewarding” years—the ones you’re supposed to “enjoy every minute of” because “it goes too fast”—and you will worry that you’ll never see the other side of them. There’s so much you’ll want to discover with him: a sense of adventure, how to catch autumn leaves falling through the sunroof of your car, or what he thinks about French impressionism.Beyond these losses, you are more afraid that he won’t even remember you.So, you’ll find yourself striving to squeeze 18 years of life lessons into months. You’ll also learn that what he needs most from you is just…to love him as he is—today. That is all he needs from you right now. And he WILL remember that. With Love,Me 1220

Dane Cummings, a waste management garbage collector, was on his route Thursday morning when he was told to evacuate. But he continued on his route in order to make sure people he knew got out safely. One of those people was his friend, 93-year-old Margaret Newsum. She hadn’t evacuated yet, because she was unaware how rapidly the Camp fire was moving toward her home in Biggs, California.“The fire was wiping the town of Paradise,” Newsum says. “It was moving so fast that people were moving out and leaving everything behind.”Soon, the power was off, and phones weren’t working.  “There was nobody I could call,” she says. “Nobody was there; they were all gone.”Well, almost everyone.“I knew my fear was over with when I saw him in that truck,” Newsum says. “And I knew when he says, ‘You’re going with me’ that he meant it, and I didn’t argue with him.”Cummings strapped Newsum’s walker to the truck and carried her to his truck. Then, the pair embarked on a 5-hour drive unlike anything they’ve ever experienced.“The smoke, you thought you were stepping in to hell. It was jet black, and you could see it dropping down on the highway. He said, ‘That’s hell. We’re going to hell.’ And I said, No, we’re gonna make it.  Just keep going!”The experience has made the two closer than ever.“He’s an angel. I love him to death,” Newsum says.“Makes you feel good when you make people happy,” Cummings says. 1424
