SEOUL, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong has said that China and South Korea should strengthen cooperation to safeguard a rule-based multilateral trading system and build an open world economy.

Xi said on Monday that China's imported goods and services were estimated to exceed 30 trillion U.S. dollars and 10 trillion U.S. dollars, respectively, in the next 15 years. China has been the world's second largest merchandise importer for nine consecutive years.

Many leaders attending the event responded positively on Xi's proposals for Asia-Pacific cooperation, applauded China's important role in Asia-Pacific cooperation and said they look forward to closer cooperation with China so as to make the region more prosperous, said Wang.

Reform measures in boosting innovation have been piloted in eight Chinese cities and regions including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Shanghai and Guangdong. The first pilot program covering 13 policy measures were rolled out nationwide in 2017.
