Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer throughout the U.S. — and the Denver area seemingly took that to heart by skipping straight to winter on Tuesday.Just after noon on Monday, Denver recorded temperatures of over 90 degrees. Less than 24 hours later, temperatures had plummeted to near freezing, and snow was falling in parts of the city.A powerful cold front was the culprit for the sharp change in temperatures. The system will bring winter weather to the Denver area through Wednesday evening.According to meteorologists with Scripps station KMGH in Denver, between 3 and 7 inches of snow is expected to fall in the Front Range corridor by early Wednesday.There are also freeze warnings in effect for the Colorado plains east of Denver, where temperatures are expected to dip below freezing by Wednesday morning.Officials fear the early freeze could damage crops, some of which are about to be harvested. Officials also fear that a deep freeze with full foliage could cause tree limbs to snap and cause power outages in the area.KMGH reports that Denver's earliest snow of the season came Sept. 3, 1961, when a Labor Day storm brought 4.2 inches to the city's airport and dumped nearly a foot in the western suburbs and foothills. On Sept. 8, 1962, Denver saw its earliest freeze of the season when temperatures dipped to 31 degrees.Wednesday's snowfall was Denver's earliest in the last decade. The previous record for earlier snowfall in the last 10 years came Oct. 5, 2012. Last year's first snow came earlier than usual on Oct. 10 — still a full month earlier than Tuesday's snowfall.The enormous temperature swing between Monday and Tuesday could also turn out to be the largest swing on record. The previous record occurred on Jan. 25, 1872, when the temperature dropped 66 degrees, from 46 degrees to -20 degrees.Monday also marked Denver's 73rd day in 2020 with temperatures in the 90s, which ties an all-time record. (KTNV) - A security guard opened fire at a Ross Dress for Less in Las Vegas Saturday, sending customers into hiding for their safety, witnesses said.The shooting happened Saturday around 4 p.m. at the store in the Blue Diamond Crossing strip mall on Blue Diamond Rd.Dramatic video shows Ross customers, including a child, ducking under clothes racks as shots rang out.Watch the video:Witnesses said police arrived and exchanged shots with the gunman, who was hit by police gunfire. He was taken to a hospital for surgery. No one else was hurt.Shoppers at nearby Kohl's and Target stores were evacuated or sheltered in place during the exchange.The security guard was reportedly arguing with the store manager before the shooting. When police arrived, he also fired at them. It is not known at this time why the argument started.No personal information has been released about the security guard. (KGTV) — Authorities are offering up to ,000 for tips leading to the arrest of the person who burglarized a gun shop in La Mesa last month.At about 11 p.m. on May 30, an unknown man burglarized Alex Imports Gun Shop located at 7839 University Ave. in La Mesa, according to the ATF. (KGTV) - A woman who says she was drugged and raped by Daniel Dorado while on a job interview at his La Jolla Restaurant nearly three years ago, is sharing her story only with 10News.Dorado was arrested Wednesday on 18 counts, including rape. She tells 10News it began when she answered an ad on Craigslist for a hostess position. She recalls arriving around 9:30 p.m. for an interview with Dorado, who at one point offered her a glass of wine, which she accepted. What happened next is unclear."What I do recall is waking up around four in the morning and I did not have any clothes on...he had nothing on," she said.The people who had been at the restaurant when she arrived were gone, and she said she was locked in, alone with Dorado. It was then that she remembers the phone ringing. On the other end was her mother, wondering where she was. "Honestly I feel because my mother called the restaurant around four something in the morning is what made him let me leave, knowing that somebody knew I was there," she said. The accuser said she knew she'd been assaulted because of how her body felt. "I had vaginal discomfort," she said. "I felt as if there must have been penetration at some point, bruises around my chest, I was in great pain."Although she filed a police report, she was ultimately told there was not enough evidence to charge Dorado, until now. "Knowing that I'm not the only one, I want justice and I hope that if there's anybody out there who knows this individual, who was a victim, that they come forward so there can be justice," she said. 2006
