UPDATE 8:54 p.m. - Nov. 9, 2019SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department has called off Saturday's Amber Alert after determining that the man who reported his vehicle stolen with a child inside filed a false report.The man told officers that his acquaintance, 29-year-old Osman Rahimi, drove off in his vehicle with an 11-year-old inside, according to SDPD Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.The man described the boy, named Johnny Diaz, as a Hispanic child, 4 feet tall, wearing a white shirt and “Transformers” pajama pants."Detectives contacted the California Highway Patrol to put out an Amber Alert in an effort to find the boy," said Takeuchi.Oceanside Police Department officers located the vehicle and Rahimi near the Aliso Creek Rest Area but the child was not with Rahimi."SDPD officers took custody of Rahimi and transported him to SDPD headquarters along with the man who made the report, and the Amber Alert was cancelled," said Takeuchi.Takeuchi said they conducted numerous interviews and determined that no child was involved. Detectives are still working to determine if Rahimi is responsible for stealing the car.The man who made the report, who has not yet been identified, may also face charged of filing a false report, according to Takeuchi."While it appears the original report was false, the mission of our department is to protect all life," said Takeuchi. Two moms wanted a safe place to get their young children involved in the protests calling for police reform and racial equality. So, they created a group called Tiny Activists ATL, where their children could speak out in their own way.“We are tiny people, demanding for a change,” said Addison Carroll, who isn’t even 10 years old yet.“We just want to make our voices heard,” said tiny activist Sawyer Tinguely.These pint-sized protestors have a big mission. “We want to see that everybody can be treated equal so that everyone can make a change,” said Carroll of speaking out about voting rights.From marching the streets to going to the polls, these future voters understand how the system works. Even though they’re not of age yet, they want to be involved.“What Black Lives Matter means to me is that black people can go outside and not feel bad because of the way they look,” said Carroll.“It means that all lives are equal. All people are the same,” said 7-year-old Tinguely.These kids want reform, especially after the death of George Floyd.“What I saw on that video was horrible,” said Carroll. When asked how watching the video of George Floyd’s arrest made her feel, Carroll stated, "Betrayed. Anthony Dupree said.The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Dupree said.The victim was described as a Hispanic male in his twenties. A skateboard was found at the scene.
