(AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested in Southern California after deputies found about 800 pounds of stolen lemons inside his car.Riverside County sheriff's officials say 69-year-old Dionicio Fierros was arrested Friday on suspicion of theft of agricultural products.Deputies were investigating recent farm thefts when they stopped Fierros' car in Thermal on Friday morning.Inside his car, deputies say they found several large bags of freshly picked lemons they believe were stolen from a nearby farm.A telephone number for Fierros could not be located in public records and it wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations. 697

Thomas Magnum has lost his sidekick. John Hillerman, the actor who played Magnum P.I. sidekick Jonathan Higgins, died on Thursday at the age of 84. According to TMZ, he died at his home in Houston. The cause of his death is unknown. Hillerman's portrayal of Higgins was plotted as a foil for the title character in Magnum P.I., which ran for eight seasons on CBS. Hillerman won an Emmy Award in 1987 for his performance. Besides his role on Magnum P.I., Hillerman appeared in nearly two dozen feature films, and even more television shows. They’re a lifeline to the local economy.“That’s crazy because, I mean, it’s our history,” said Pedro Bonilla, owner of El Buen Taco.Bonilla says these trees attract tourists and with Big Basin park closed for at least a year due to fire damage, his taco truck could have to close.“We weren’t prepared mentally or financially prepared for this,” he said.Thousands of acres have burned at Big Basin since fires sparked a few weeks ago, torching everything from the ancient trees to historic structures that were built in the early 1900s.“It’s hard to grasp you know how much damage the fire did to the infrastructure, said Mark McKenna of California State Parks.While McKenna says redwood trees are resilient, their recovery could take years.“The complexity of the rebuilding process, it's daunting when you see the damage that happened up there,” he said.That damage is both extensive and expensive.
