LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting at a park in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, where demonstrators had gathered to protest the death of Breonna Taylor. Police said one male died at the scene at Jefferson Square Park and another person was found with non-life-threatening injuries across the street. Video posted on social media appeared to show a man opening fire into the park. The footage later showed at least one person bleeding profusely on the ground. The park has for weeks been the epicenter for protests in the city after the police killings of Taylor and George Floyd. The fast-food mogul says these updates will enhance the guest experience. Not only is it great for business, but it's great for communities. Franchise operator Laura Bucar says in her 40 years of doing business, McDonald's has never invested this much money into it's existing chains. "When we decide to move on anything, what that creates for the community, as far as jobs and resources, is incredible,” says Bucar. In order to create an incredible experience, McDonald's is investing millions of dollars into nearly every state to update their restaurants.“We just finished ours in July, and I can’t tell you how many electricians and plumbers locally that were sourced to come in, and even digital and technical people and so it really adds to the economy,” says Bucar.Each fast food restaurant is able to customize their artwork inside. Bucar is excited to give visibility to local artists. Not only is McDonald's offering jobs in the community for construction workers, but they are also adding a handful of positions inside their restaurants, too. But one of the constraints is lack of construction workers along with the material cost that goes into construction, such as lumber,” says Dr. Yun, who also pointed out the country's underproduction.“Home builders have been producing below historical average for 10 straight years and the cumulative effect of underproduction is we don’t have sufficient inventory and that is the reason why home prices are rising and we need to build more homes to get into balance,” added Dr. Yun.Which is why, Laura Gonzalez, associate professor of Finance at California State University Long Beach, says we're experiencing a supply and demand situation when it comes to wood.“We just don’t have enough wood,” Gonzalez said. “It's difficult to make it ready and then transport it because of the pandemic. It's not that the industry is changing its just that we have had a shift both in supply and demand.”Gonzalez also says it's the basic equation of high demand meaning lower supply, which sends prices up and stocks soaring. Then there's the factor of where our wood comes from. She says, “We import some of our lumber from Canada both from lumber and other products. If we depend on other nations, we are more susceptible to changes in supply.”So, what comes next?“The issue of supply versus demand is going to correct in two years, but the opportunities for climate finance are ongoing that is not going to finish,” Gonzalez said.Which is why Dr. Yun says home prices will hold firm, and if you're waiting for a ‘burst’ or for prices to decrease, you might be waiting a while.“In future years, mortgage rate will certainly rise and that will choke off some of the demand, but hopefully we have adequate supply so we have a more balanced market condition where prices rise in manageable, 3-4% each year and people will feel comfortable at that rate of price appreciation,” says Dr. Yun.Dr. Yun recommends if you want or need to buy, don't overstretch your budget as the competition is fierce out there. MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif.(KGTV) - Mammoth Mountain closed Saturday after three people were partially buried in an apparent avalanche.The popular snow resort issued the closure on Twitter, saying the avalanche struck just after 10 a.m. while Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol was performing avalanche hazard mitigation, which could involve structural measures or artificial triggering of high-risk areas."All rescue measures are in place and the mountain is currently closed," officials tweeted.The three individuals partially buried were able to free themselves. Those have to be kept covered to protect them from splatter or anything because once they get dirty, then they have to be thrown out,” Dr. Daniel Gold said. “We circulate gowns as well.”Gold is an E.N.T., which is the medical and surgical choice for anything having to do with the ears, nose or throat. It's a profession that is very much in your face, so protective gear is of utmost importance.“After wearing them for 5-10 minutes, you get short of breath and you’re like this is really hard,” he said.Doctors like Gold are having a hard time getting more gear. In fact, Dr. Gold often uses shields that are designed for sheet metal work because medical grade equipment is back ordered, or entirely unavailable. They're asking the government to step in."We urge Congress to prioritize the production, distribution, and availability of PPE and testing, and accelerate efforts to conduct contact tracing,” the letter read. “All of these are essential to the safe reopening of medical practices and the economy and must be prioritized for all health care workers."They're also asking for financial help as their costs to operate, while seeing half the patient volume, are mounting.“These additional precautions and equipment is running us about per patient,” Dr. Gold said. “It’s about a million in extra overhead a month just in these extra masks, and gowns, and gloves and wipes.
