(KGTV) — Searches skyrocketed for "San Andreas Fault" following Friday's magnitude 7.1 earthquake in Southern California.Despite this, the second quake to hit the San Bernardino County area in as many days was more than 100 miles away from the fault zone.The 6.4- and 7.1-magnitude earthquakes near Ridgecrest on July 4 and 5 were along two other fault lines, according to USGS seismologist Lucy Jones. (KGTV) - Residents in a Rancho Pe?asquitos neighborhood say they are frustrated at the delays keeping a popular community park closed. 10News has uncovered that a key error by a contractor hired by the city is at least partly responsible for the park remaining closed past its scheduled reopening date.When 10News visited Rollings Hills Park Wednesday afternoon it was empty, with the exception of one man walking his dog on the outfield of the park's baseball diamond, the only portion of the park still available to the public. "Normally you'd expect this thing to be fairly packed," said Rick McElroy, who lives across the street.The ,500,000 renovation project began in August, 2018 with Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Councilmember Mark Kersey attending a ceremonial groundbreaking. The park will eventually have two new playgrounds, a rubber surface, and water fountains. Part of the money to pay for the project was raised by community members.A sign posted on the fence currently surrounding the park indicated that work would be done by Spring, 2019. It was previously reported that a source told 10News the contractor made a mistake while working on the park's draining system, which needed to be redone. But city officials say that's not the case.Alec Phillipp, a spokesperson with the City of San Diego, told 10News that the city may be responsible for the delay. The project had to be redesigned after discovering that the location of an existing underground draining system was not where crews anticipated. The city provided the plans to the contractor, which did not accurately map the draining system.Residents also cited other issues they have witnessed, including an accidental spill of sod for the park into the fence."I travel all over the world as part of my job and I get to see how construction is done," says McElroy. (KGTV) - San Diego Police and Crime Stoppers requested the public’s help Thursday to find a man suspected of robbing an adult store in the Midway area. The man walked into the Adult Depot about 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 and pulled out a handgun, police said. He pointed the gun at the clerk’s head and demanded cash, then took money from the register. Police said the man fired one shot at the computer monitor above the cash register before running away. Investigators said the man was last seen walking north on Pacific Highway. The man is described as Hispanic and 5’4” to 5’6” tall. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black bandana, black gloves, gray pants, and black and white tennis shoes. (KGTV) -- With both finalists in the race to become San Diego's next mayor being Democrats, a surprise, late endorsement by the Republican who nearly cracked the top two in the primary could help tip the balance in what appears to be a close election.Over the weekend, City Councilmember Scott Sherman endorsed Assemblymember Todd Gloria over fellow Councilmember Barbara Bry. In a Twitter thread, Sherman stated "After much thought, I can’t in good conscience vote for Barbara Bry. She is inauthentic, inconsistent, and untrustworthy."Sherman went on to say that he had disagreements with Gloria on the issues, but praised him for consistency and authenticity. In an interview with ABC 10News, Gloria said he was grateful for Sherman's endorsement. "Clearly we’re from different political parties and we disagree on many, many issues. But at the end of the day, he’s casting his vote based on character. And what he shared is really meaningful to me.”Bry told ABC 10News she believes Sherman endorsed her opponent because she had defeated him in the primary, as well as in issues two faced together on the council.
