PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — Officials in Prairie Village say a garbage truck crashed into a house in Prairie Village Wednesday morning. Police said the driver fell out of the truck after turning onto Cedar Street from 83rd Terrace. The truck continued to roll and smashed into the corner of a home's garage.The homeowners were home at the time but were uninjured. A spokeswoman at Overland Park Regional Medical Center said the trash truck driver remains in critical condition."I opened the front door and the truck was barreling across my grass and all the sudden it hit and we shook,” said the homeowner, Rick Evrard.Michael Yates was remodeling a kitchen at a home across the street when he heard the crash.“All the sudden I heard the boom,” said Yates, “That’s when I looked out the window and I saw the truck was inside the house over there and the fellow was laying on the ground.”The man lying on the ground was the driver. Yates and Evrard ran to him to see if they could help him.“We got towels. He was bleeding profusely from his head,” said Evrard.Evrard was told his house is uninhabitable for the time being.The truck also clipped a gas meter and the gas was shut off for repairs.  1223

President Donald Trump gave his final Thanksgiving address to troops before President-elect Joe Biden takes office in January. After addressing service members, Trump answered questions for the first time since his November 3 election defeat, saying that it would be a “mistake” if the Electoral College votes for Biden next month.“This election was a fraud,” Trump claimed.Two weeks ago, a joint statement released by federal and state officials described the presidential election as the “most secure in American history.”The letter was signed by leaders of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the National Association of State Election Directors, among others. Trump said he is going to hold a rally in Georgia on Saturday night, but the details of where are still unknown.Trump was asked if he would attend Biden’s inauguration. He said he knew the answer but would not say whether he would or not. It has been a long-standing tradition that the incoming and outgoing president meet at the White House and travel to the Capitol together before the inauguration.Trump said, “certainly I will, you know that,” when asked if he would leave the White House on January 20.The president criticized Biden for beginning to fill out his prospective cabinet before taking office. (KGTV) -- A rope is being blamed for December’s weeklong boil water advisory in Poway, according to a newly-released report.The report says a surge in storm water caused a backflow in the system. A rope stuck inside a gate designed to keep water out of the reservoir allowed the storm water to seep into the area. As a result of the incident, the affected section of the reservoir had to be disinfected and refilled. RELATED: Inspection found 12 flaws in Poway's water delivery systemA boil water was issued November 30 and canceled December 6 as a result of the contamination. The advisory was issued after residents reported brownish water coming from their faucets on November 29. The report also goes into detail about what is being done as a result of the advisory.
