When astronaut Scott Kelly was preparing to head to space for a year-long mission on the International Space Station in 2015, he immediately thought about his brother.“This was going to be unique for NASA,” Scott Kelly says in an interview from Space Center Houston. “The first U.S. crew member spending a year in space… maybe there was some value in taking advantage of the fact that…I had an identical twin brother.”His identical twin happens to be former astronaut Mark Kelly, who would be on earth during the same period of time. Scott saw potential to learn something.“I think as an astronaut we have an obligation to promote science, perform the science, to be engaged in science,” he says. The journal publication Science was very interested in the idea. All they needed now was a team of researchers for what would be known as the 850
Wendy's is set to join the ranks of McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Hardee's and other fast food outlets that serve breakfast. Wendy's announced on Monday that it will make breakfast available system wide in 2020 after only running at 300 of its U.S. locations currently. Adding breakfast at restaurants will mean Wendy's will add 20,000 employees. Wendy's said that its breakfast menu will include a breakfast Baconator, Frosty-ccino, and honey butter chicken biscuit."Launching breakfast in our U.S. restaurants nationwide provides incredible growth opportunities," said Todd Penegor, President and CEO of The Wendy's Company. "We are well-positioned to pursue it. We believe we have the right team and structure in place, and we put Wendy's fan favorites on our breakfast menu to set us apart from the competition." 834

Washington D.C. could become the first place in the U.S. to restore voting rights for felons who are behind bars.Councilman Robert White introduced a bill to make that happen, and says the justification is simple.“If you don't lose your citizenship for a crime, then you shouldn't lose your right to vote,” White said.Opponents to the bill say a prison sentence is meant to be a punishment and losing the right to vote is part of the repercussion of breaking the law.“When someone is incarcerated, they lose many of their rights. But we have to be careful to distinguish between what is a punishment for a crime and what is a basic right to democracy,” the DC councilman said.Vermont and Maine are the only two states in the country that currently allow felons to vote in prison. But the issue is getting national attention after Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said he supports it.“I think the right to vote inherent to our democracy. Yes, even for terrible people,” Sanders said.Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has used the issue as a rallying cry.“Let the Boston Bomber vote. He should be voting, right? I don't think so. Let terrorists that are in prison vote. I don't think so. Can you believe it? But this is where some of these people are coming from,” Trump said. The Washington, D.C. council is expected to conduct a hearing and vote on the issue early next year. It could become a blueprint for states considering passing a similar law. 1470
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is threatening social media companies with new regulation or even closure after Twitter added fact checks to two of his tweets. Claiming tech giants "silence conservative voices," Trump tweeted Wednesday that, "We will strongly regulate, or close them down before we can ever allow this to happen." The president can't unilaterally regulate or close social media companies, as that would require action by Congress or the Federal Communications Commission. 505
