WARREN, Mich. – A suspect is in custody for the execution-style murders of three people in Michigan, including a 6-year-old boy, his father and the dad’s fiancée.Last Friday, a person of interest in the heinous murder of the child and 28-year-old woman was being questioned by officers, according to Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer.Warren police say they will present their case to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office Tuesday morning.According to Dwyer, officers did a wellness check at an Otis Avenue home in Warren around 10 a.m. on Oct. 1. The front door was open, but there was no sign of a forced entry.That’s when police discovered the bodies of the boy and woman, both fatally shot execution-style in the basement, Dwyer said.Warren police are working with Detroit police after it was confirmed the 6-year-old victim was the son of a 31-year-old man whose body was found in a burned-out vehicle on Detroit’s east side. The 28-year-old woman is the girlfriend, police confirmed.According to Detroit Major Crimes Commander Eric Decker, officers responded to the vehicle fire report around 2 a.m. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was a rental car, which was then used to identify the 31-year-old victim and trace his connection to the home in Warren.The man’s initial cause of death was from a gunshot wound. The vehicle was burned after the shooting.Dwyer said the department has secured video from around the Otis Avenue neighborhood, which will be later released. Authorities have also executed a search warrant on the home and have recovered evidence to test for possible suspect identification.Federal agents are being asked to join the investigation as Warren police anticipate seeking the death penalty in the case.“When you murder an innocent 6-year-old baby, you deserve the death penalty.” Dwyer said. “It was a terrible, terrible scene. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) --  A California Highway patrol car assisting with construction was hit by a tire just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The incident, caused when a Chevy Silverado lost a spare tire, happened on the westbound 78 near the Sycamore Avenue, according to CHP. Several people swerved to avoid the tire as it entered the highway, causing at least three crashes. Lanes were closed for a little more than one hour. No CHP officers were injured, but the patrol car was towed from the scene. At this time it's unclear if the driver of the Silverado knew that the tire was lost.  637

Walmart says they plan to pay their workers in the United States a holiday cash bonus.In a press release, the company announced an estimated 8 million in special cash bonuses on Dec. 24, which comes out to be 0 for full-time employees and 0 for part-time workers.Drivers, coaches, and assistant managers will also receive a special cash bonus, Walmart said in a press release.The company paid employees 9 million in quarterly bonuses on Nov. 25, "following a strong third-quarter business performance."According to Walmart, it has paid a total of more than .8 billion in bonuses in 2020.Walmart also announced they are extending its leave policy through July 5, 2021, amid the ongoing pandemic.The policy currently provides "associates with up to two weeks of pay should they need to stay home for COVID-related reasons, including mandated quarantines, symptoms, or illness."The company said employees unable to return to work after that time would receive additional pay replacement for up to 26 weeks. 1025

(KGTV) - President Trump's endorsement Thursday to raise the minimum purchase age for assault rifles from 18 to 21 is sparking local debate.Christa Farmer, 19, has been cleaning and taking care of guns since she was 11.  Farmer bought an AR-15 when she was 18, which she uses for shooting competitions.  It's a gun Farmer is comfortable with, and she says the purchase age should stay at 18."At 18, I knew how to properly disassemble, assemble, clean, and the proper safety rules," said Farmer.Anti-gun-violence advocates like Ron Marcus want such rifles banned nationwide, but say raising the purchase age is a good step.    "The maturity range between 18 and 21, there's a lot of room for growth.  To allow that maturation process before they buy a gun is a good idea," said Marcus, Director of Public Outreach for San Diegans for Gun Violence Prevention.Farmer counters with a different maturity argument.  She says she was 'mature enough' to enlist in the Army Reserve several years ago. "If we're old enough to enlist and carry these weapons, I believe we are mature and responsible enough to own them in our personal lives as well," said Farmer.Others say the two situations are different when it comes to owning AR-15s."In the military, you are subject to extreme discipline and oversight ... When they are off duty, a different story ... and they should be subject to civilian rules," said Marcus.Farmer doesn't agree with the reasoning because of the quality of the gun training in the military.As of last year, new sales of the AR-15 have been banned in the state.  Owners can still keep their old ones, but must register them with the state by June. 1727
