What's in a name? A lot, if you happen to be a member of Britain's royal family. As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Monday announced the arrival of their son and third child, speculation turned to a possible name. The baby boy was born at St. Mary's Hospital in London at 11 a.m. local time, Kensington Palace said in a statement. But as with the royal couple's older children, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, it is likely to be a few days until a name is announced.Among the bookmaker's favorites for the boy, who will be fifth in line to the throne, are Arthur, Albert and James.Tradition plays a huge role when choosing a royal name. Albert could be a nod to both Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, and Queen Elizabeth II's father, King George VI, who was called Albert until his accession to the throne."We haven't had so many called Arthur, but it does hark back to the mythical first king of Britain," said royal commentator Kate Williams.Given Prince William and Catherine's previous choices, royal commentators are predicting the couple will stick with a traditional name for their third child."George and Charlotte are very traditional, historic, English names," said Williams. "Although this is slightly different in that their first child, Prince George, is likely to be the monarch, and this child will likely not. So they can be a little bit different with the name."The latest edition to the royal family is fifth in line to the throne -- after his grandfather Prince Charles, father William and two siblings -- bumping William's brother Prince Harry further down the order.A change in the law in 2011, after William and Kate were married, gave women the same rights of accession to the throne as men.Whichever name the Duke and Duchess choose, it will first need to be cleared with Queen Elizabeth II, though ultimately the final decision rests with the parents."The Queen has the power to say what their title is -- she'll decree that they are the Prince of Cambridge," explained Williams."But in the case of names, it is more of an informal conversation. Of course they have such respect for the Queen that if she says 'I really don't like that name,' they'd definitely take that into account," Williams added. One thing is certain, their chosen name is likely to shoot to the top of British baby name lists -- as it did with George and Charlotte. And with the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set to take place on May 19, Williams had one final prediction: "I wouldn't be surprised if Harry and Meghan are popular baby names in the coming year." 2611
William "Bill" Barr, a former attorney general under President George H.W. Bush, is emerging as a consensus candidate to succeed Jeff Sessions as attorney general, two sources familiar with President Donald Trump's thinking tell CNN.A third source familiar with the process said if Trump offered the position to Barr, he would be willing to accept.Trump's consideration of a new attorney general comes during a critical time for special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, of which the next Justice Department chief will inherit oversight. Barr, 68, has previously offered mixed opinions about the investigation, having praised Mueller but also publicly criticizing political donations made by several members of his team. The Washington Post first reported that Barr is the leading candidate. Sources cautioned to CNN, however, that Trump makes the final decision.Barr served as Mueller's boss when he was attorney general in the early 1990s and Mueller led the criminal division at the Justice Department. The former attorney general hasn't shied away from weighing in on Mueller's investigation. He expressed confidence in Mueller early on and suggested the investigation wouldn't devolve into a "witch hunt," but he also has shared some disappointment when asked by The Washington Post last year about the donations that some of Mueller's team members made to Democrats."In my view, prosecutors who make political contributions are identifying fairly strongly with a political party ... I would have liked to see him have more balance on this group," he said in July 2017.Barr also defended Trump's decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey, who was criticized for flouting Justice Department protocols when he announced in July 2016 that he wouldn't recommend charges against Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified info during her time as secretary of state."I think it is quite understandable that the administration would not want an FBI director who did not recognize established limits on his powers," Barr wrote in a Washington Post op-ed in May 2017. "It is telling that none of the president's critics are challenging the decision on the merits."The prospect of Barr taking over the Justice Department was well-received by some leading members of Congress in both parties Thursday.Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, a Texas Republican who sits on the Judiciary Committee, called Barr an "interesting pick.""I think getting the next nominee confirmed is going to be a little bit of a challenge," he said. "(Barr) may be the kind of person who would be easier to confirm."Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said she was unfamiliar with Barr's views but encouraged by a suggestion that he was an "establishment" Republican."I would hope (Trump) would pick someone who would be by the book and not by the politics," Feinstein said.CNN reported late last month that Barr was among several potential candidates to succeed Sessions. At the time, CNN reported that Trump was considering tapping the assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Antitrust Division, Makan Delrahim, to succeed acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker. At the time, White House officials said Trump was in no rush to nominate a permanent successor to Sessions, whom he fired November 7. Instead, Trump was telling confidantes he was happy to leave Whitaker in place while he mulled his choices.Other names that have been floated as possible replacements for Sessions include Rep. John Ratcliffe of Texas, a former federal prosecutor, as well John Michael Luttig, a former US Court of Appeals judge, Justice Department official and current general counsel at Boeing. One former White House official said late last month that Luttig was a strong possibility, though he had not met with the President. A second source close to Luttig told CNN he was considered for the role of FBI director after Comey was fired in spring 2017.The-CNN-Wire 3983
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Two specially modified shotguns and ammunition were stolen from Palm Beach Zoo in the hours between late Wednesday and early Thursday.Head of Communications & Public Relations for Palm Beach Zoo, Naki Carter, says someone broke into the zoo and pried open a gun safe that stored the weapons. The shotguns were used by the zoo's "critical response team" in cases of emergency. The zoo is offering a ,000 reward for the return of the weapons. When asked if this was thought to be an "inside job", Carter had no comment. If the perpetrator(s) is caught with the weapons, which require a federal permit, they could face 10 years in prison and a fine.Carter says Palm Beach Zoo has increased security measures since the theft, but will not go into detail as to what those measures entail. 828
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Roses are red and Ken Lerman’s suit is too.If you see his bouquets, he has a message for you.The 55-year-old loves to love and he now uses roses to let people know it.There’s some pain behind Lerman’s purpose. His, “Roses for Change,” campaign began this summer after he and people across the country witnessed the fallout following the death of George Floyd while in police custody.“How can one human being do that to another human being, I was crying when I saw it,” says Lerman.Armed with roses and a message of love Lerman says he wanted to reach those most affected.“I gotta give this to all the African Americans, they’re hurting,” he tells WPTV.His message has since caught on both online and in Palm Beach County where he regularly shares love and roses to people of all colors. We caught up with Lerman with a hundred of his favorite flowers in hand at the Milagro Center in Delray BeachHigh Schooler, Dachinise Philbert, says, “I was surprised and I was like oh I love you too.”A lot of these teens say it’s been a while since they’ve heard those words directed at them and even longer since they’ve been given flowers.Philbert says, “It was kind of weird at first I was like roses? I didn’t expect that but it was pretty nice a pretty nice gesture."6th grader Isaiah Taylor had a similar interaction with Lerner.“He said I love you, you stay safe and told my grandma happy birthday too,” says Taylor.Lerman says he hopes the connection he makes with strangers leaves a lasting impact, “So maybe other people will give roses maybe boyfriends will give roses to their wives or their partners that people will just go out and spread the love that’s my mission every single day to spread love in the Florida community and transform the world with love.”Because maybe it’s true, all you really need is love. This story was first reported by Chris Gilmore at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida. 1927
