BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) leader Li Changchun on Thursday called on teachers to be "role models" for students and lead by example in matters of discipline and integrity.Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when watching a performance dedicated to Teachers' Day, which falls on Friday.More than 700 teachers and students, and a dozen "model teachers" selected by Chinese netizens, joined Li to watch the performance.The Ministry of Education organized an election of "model teachers" online beginning August 8. During the month-long election, around 1.2 million people participated in the voting. SHANGHAI, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's intellectual property rights (IPR) authorities Saturday vowed to play a larger role in the global cause of IPR protection while being more responsible to innovators and the public.The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Director Tian Lipu made the pledge at a press conference held to recognize the 25th anniversary of Sino-EU cooperation on IPR protection.Tian said that China and the EU, as two major economies with close trade relations, should further co-operate to create a better environment to encourage and protect innovation in the business world.At the event, European Patent Office (EPO) President Benoit Battistelli told Xinhua he was optimistic about the future of IPR protection in China, given the rapid progress being made in the country.Battistelli said relations between the EPO and the SIPO would "continue to be decisive for the successful future development of the patent system on a global level."Commemorations of the anniversary, held at the ongoing Shanghai World Expo, also included a demonstration of a real-world IPR enforcement case in a moot court setting.The EPO started cooperating with China in 1985. PYONGYANG, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of senior Chinese military officers watched the "Arirang" performance here Saturday night as part of celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) into the Korean War front.The delegation, led by Guo Boxiong, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, is on a four-day visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). They were joined at the show by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.Before the show, Guo met Kim and a number of other DPRK leaders, including Choe Yong Rim, premier of the cabinet, and Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission.Guo hailed the DPRK's attention to its relations with China.
