SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The mountain lion euthanized by California Department of Fish and Wildlife wardens is the same animal responsible for attacking a boy at Los Pe?asquitos Canyon Preserve, CDFW announced Friday. The 4-year-old boy was among 11 people hiking the North San Diego County trail Memorial Day when the 80-pound female mountain lion attacked him. Wardens who went to the scene found the animal’s tracks and encountered it moments later. The mountain lion appeared to have little fear of humans: an abnormal behavior, CDFW said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video shows burglars ransacking a Pacific Beach brewpub hit hard by the pandemic.Just past 6 p.m Thursday, while food and craft beer were being served up at the second-story Amplified Ale Works restaurant, a masked man was recorded while inside the first-floor office and shuttered music venue.A mangled door revealed the intruder's entry point."Looks like he used a crowbar on the back door," said owner Alex Pierson.Inside, he's seen rummaging through drawers, grabbing headphones and some other items before leaving. Pierson says the burglar returned hours later, and he wasn't alone."When they came back at 10:30 p.m., they ransacked everything," said Pierson.For some 40 minutes, three men are seen helping themselves to whatever they wanted, filling up box after box.In one clip, one of the thieves is seen sorting through paperwork. Several blank checks were found missing."It's that feeling of violation. It hurt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The July Fourth holiday weekend is expected to bring large crowds to San Diego's beaches.Los Angeles beaches will be closed this weekend, and that has some concerned that even more people will flock to San Diego's beaches.Debra Moore lives in Encinitas. She'd like the beaches closed indefinitely."I think they opened way too soon, and we all saw this coming. They told us it was going to come, and I'm sorry so many more people had to get sick," said Moore.She said young people in her neighborhood aren't taking the pandemic seriously."Nobody is wearing a mask, nobody is social distancing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Ten people were arrested in a suspected smuggling incident after border officials stopped a boat off the coast of Coronado this week.U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine agents say a boat was spotted just west of Coronado at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Agents said the vessel was traveling from Mexican waters into U.S. territory.A crew was sent out to stop the suspected smuggling boat and 10 people were found aboard. The boat had been traveling without lights on and was spray painted black, according to agents.The individuals on the boat, all male Mexican citizens ages 18 to 55, were taken back to shore and turned over to Border Patrol, CBP said."It’s dangerous to travel on a crowded boat, out at sea, with no lights, and these smugglers took the added step of spray-painting the hull black so they would be difficult to spot at night," said Christopher Hunter, Deputy Director of Marine Operations for CBP in San Diego. "Smuggling organizations aren’t considering anyone’s safety when these make these illegal attempts, only what profits they can try to make."The 10 men were due to be returned to Mexico, CBP said. 1166
