ROME, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- China and Italy are working on a plan to expand their bilateral economic cooperation as the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Italy diplomatic ties is just round the corner, said Chinese Ambassador to Italy Ding Wei on Saturday.The Chinese government is happy to see an enhanced and deepened economic ties between the two countries, said Ding while meeting with Adriano Luci, chairman of the industry association in Italy's northeastern city of Udine.He said Udine enjoyed a well-developed industrial capacity and saw ever-closer ties among Chinese and Italian firms.Ding hoped the association could encourage its member companies to champion the cooperation between Chinese enterprises and their Italian counterparts so as to materialize common development.Luci briefed Ding on Udine's industrial development, its companies' investment in China as well as their participation in the on-going Shanghai World Expo.He said he is willing to see the Italian and Chinese companies having more exchanges and further expanded areas of cooperation.According to Invitalia, the Italian official agency for promoting overseas investment and enterprise development, investment from Chinese companies in Italy has surged since 2000 and mainly goes to three main sectors, namely the automotive industry, logistics and machinery.Bilateral trade volume between China and Italy in the first half of 2010 registered a 36.3 percent rise compared to that of the same period last year, reaching some 20 million U.S. dollars.
BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said on Monday it would levy provisional anti-dumping duties of up to 37.5 percent on methanol imported from Indonesia, Malaysia and New Zealand.After a preliminary investigation, the MOC found the three countries had dumped methanol onto the market, causing material damage to Chinese manufacturers.The MOC has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties ranging between 9.3 percent and 37.5 percent effective Oct. 28, according to a news release on its website.The MOC also concluded its investigation into imports from Saudi Arabia, though no evidence of dumping was found.Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, is used as a basic material to produce chemical products such as plastics, paint, construction materials and windshield cleaning fluid.
BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang Wednesday called for accelerated public hospital reforms and the establishment of an essential medicine system to provide better health care.Li, who heads the State Council's leading group on health care reforms, made the remarks at a meeting in Beijing.The essential medicine system planned by the reforms will allow citizens to buy affordable, effective and safe medicines, Li said. BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao's speech on the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Shenzhen special economic zone (SEZ) was published in five ethnic minority languages on Friday.Shenzhen, a southern coastal city neighboring Hong Kong, marked its 30th anniversary as China's first economic reform zone on Sept. 6.At that day's celebratory rally, Hu said the central government would always support the country's special economic zones, embarking on "brave exploration" in their roles as "first movers.""The SEZs will not only continue, but should work better," Hu said.The late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping first proposed building Shenzhen into a SEZ in the late 1970s.On Aug. 26, 1980, China's top legislature approved the establishment of the Shenzhen SEZ.The speech was published by the Ethnic Publishing House in five minority languages, including Mongolian, Tibetan, Uygur, Kazakstan and Korean.
