Xi and Dhoinine are attending the second summit of the 15-year-old Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which groups China, 50 African countries that have established diplomatic ties with China, and the Commission of the African Union.
"This is a legal obligation under the Convention. It is neither 'aid' nor 'charity', nor is it the same as development assistance," according to a statement released by the G77 and China on Wednesday at the ongoing 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Noting that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China's diplomatic ties with the European Union (EU), Xi said China stands ready to work with the EU to push for early results in the linking of China's Belt and Road Initiative and the EU investment plan.
"The visit is of great significance in promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and will be a milestone in China-Vietnam bilateral ties," Hong said.
At the meeting, the mayors discussed deepening economic ties between African cities and their Chinese counterparts in order to improve investment ties.
