As the coronavirus pandemic is expected to continue spreading into the holiday season, how retailers handle the shopping season remains a huge question. On Wednesday, one major retailer said it is adapting its Black Friday to the times.Home Depot said it is opting not to have a big one-day sale in stores. Instead, the home improvement retailer will host its Black Friday sales throughout the holiday season both in stores and online.“Savings will start in early November and last through December, both in-store and on homedepot.com,” the company said on its website. “Say goodbye to one day of frenzied shopping and enjoy Black Friday savings all season long without the stress and crowds.Home Depot added that it will remain closed on Thanksgiving like in years past. A number of retailers that are typically open on Thanksgiving are also opting to close for the holiday. 883

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas sheriff has been indicted on charges accusing him of destroying or concealing video in an investigation into the death in custody of a Black man, Javier Ambler, that was filmed by the police reality TV series “Live PD.”Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody was booked into his jail Monday on a ,000 bond and released a short time later. The sheriff’s charge is a third-degree felony that is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.Williamson County prosecutors have been investigating possible evidence tampering following Ambler’s death in March 2019.The county's sheriff’s deputies repeatedly used stun guns on the 40-year-old man, despite his pleas that he was sick and couldn’t breathe.A report obtained by The Associated Press shows Ambler’s death was ruled a homicide and noted it could have been “justifiable.” An autopsy showed the man died of congestive heart failure and hypertensive cardiovascular disease associated with morbid obesity “in combination with forcible restraint."Body-cam video of the deadly incident has surfaced, but another that was shot by “Live PD” crews has been destroyed.A&E, which aired the now-canceled show, has said it didn’t keep the footage after it was informed that the initial investigation into Ambler’s death had closed. The network also has said it wasn’t “asked for the footage or an interview by investigators from law enforcement or the District Attorney’s office.”Court records obtained by The AP show Chody is accused of destroying or concealing recordings “with intent to impair their ability as evidence in the investigation” of Ambler’s death.Chody denies ever tampering with evidence and has accused prosecutors of bringing the case to a grand jury for political reasons. 1765

As we head into the final days of the campaign, the environment is a major issue that perhaps does not get as much attention as others. COVID-19, the economy, and health care all are polling more important for most voters. But for some, the environment remains top of mind. "The environment is like the basis of everything," Anna Rose Mohr-Almeida, an 18-year-old voter in Arizona, said. "If we keep relying on oil, we aren’t going to make a clean transition," Mohr-Almeida said. Other voters are watching environmental policy more closely. Not because they want more reform, but because they worry about regulations that are too drastic. "We like clean air, we like clean water," Alan Olson with the Montana Petroleum Association said. "We have got a tremendous economy in the United States, primarily due to cheap fuel," Olson said. "Environmental regulations have to be realistic," Olson added. BIDEN VS TRUMPOn nearly every policy, the two presidential candidates differ, but it is especially apparent when it comes to the environment. During his administration, President Donald Trump has reversed nearly 100 environmental regulations. Trump removed the United States from the Paris Agreement, which is meant to stop rising temperatures by cutting emissions. The president is however committed to planting trees and did sign the Great American Outdoors Act, which Democrats and Republicans both believe will help protect federal lands for generations. Joe Biden, meanwhile, would immediately have the United States rejoin the Paris Agreement. Biden is committed to spending trillions to hire millions to create a "green economy."Biden wants net-zero emissions by 2050. While Biden has called the Green New Deal a framework, he has said he would not ban fracking. 1777

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers executed the second largest methamphetamine bust recently along the southwest borders in CBP's history, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.A press release states that a driver of a tractor-trailer with a "shipment that was manifested as medical supplies," pulled up to the Otay Mesa cargo border in San Diego Friday morning. An agent there at the time decided to pull the truck over for a more thorough inspection. Imagining systems, similar to an x-ray, were used to investigate the trailer and revealed suspicious components in the back of the trailer.Officers offloaded more than 1,800 packages mixed with medical supplies. That's when they discovered more than 3,100 pounds of methamphetamine, 64 pounds of heroin, 29 pounds of fentanyl powder, and almost 37 pounds of fentanyl pills. The narcotics are estimated to have a street value of .2 million, according to the press release.“This massive seizure is a testament of what law enforcement agencies can do when we combine forces – prevent over million worth of deadly drugs from entering our country; thus saving countless lives from addiction and overdose deaths,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge John W. Callery. 1271
