(KGTV) - The husband of a woman whose body was found in Jamul last year was arrested Tuesday in Maryland, San Diego Sheriff Homicide Lt. Richard Williams said.Winnie Whitby, 49, is being held at Talbot County Jail in Easton, Maryland, pending extradition to San Diego County.Melissa Estrada Whitby was reported missing in December 2016. The victim's co-workers had asked sheriff's deputies to perform a welfare check at her home after she failed to arrive for her job as a nursing supervisor at an El Cajon rehabilitation center.RELATED: Missing Jamul woman believed to be murderedA hiker found her body about one week later on a dirt trail off Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul, about a mile from her home.Detectives spent almost two years investigating the case and gathered enough evidence to link Whitby to the crime, said Williams.10News learned Whitby was also questioned for the double-murder of two brothers in Maryland in 1993. A 14-year-old girl is missing a week of school at Omaha North High School in Nebraska after suffering from a concussion during a student fight last week. Lizthy Lopez was hit and punched several times at school when a fight between several boys took place during school hours on Feb. 9. Video of the fight, caught on students' cellphones, show dozens of students around the group of students fighting. Lopez is shown holding onto a male classmate, trying to escape, as several boys pushed and hit her. "I blacked out. Sort of. I thought like what am I supposed to do? Fight back? I don't know. All I thought about was, Liz get out of there," said Lopez. Lopez said she has several bruises on her upper body, including her arms, head, and chest. She says her doctor told her she suffered a concussion and is dealing with frequent headaches as a result of her injuries. Lopez and her 16-year-old cousin Nellis Abrego, who was also shown in the video say the tension between the boys started on Thursday when a boy allegedly touched Lopez's other cousin inappropriately in class. They added the fight between two groups broke out in the hallway on Friday morning and was eventually stopped by a school police officer. The Omaha Police Department was also called on scene.Keni Abrego, Lopez's mom said she didn't realize the severity of the fight until she saw the videos circulating social media. Abrego said she spoke to school officials on Wednesday to address the physical damages her daughter suffered from at school and was told her daughter's safety was a priority.In a statement, Omaha Public Schools said, "We are aware of the incident. School administration continues to work with the families of the students who were involved in the incident and the appropriate disciplinary action is being taken. We are also cooperating with the Omaha Police Department in their investigation of the incident. Due to student privacy laws, we cannot share additional details."Abrego said four of the boys who hit her daughter were expelled and ticketed for assault on school property. Several other boys were suspended for fighting. Abrego also plans to press assault charges against the four boys. "The fighting isn't worth it. It's just not. People are just going to get in trouble," said Lopez. "I do know that any boy or man hitting any woman is not okay. (KGTV) - The Tesla vehicle involved in a deadly California crash last week was operating in "Autopilot" mode, the company confirmed Friday.The vehicle is now the latest accident involving an autonomous vehicle in the last month.The fatal crash on March 23 occurred in Mountain View, Calif. The vehicle had been engaged in Autopilot and alerted the driver with "several" visual and audible "hands-on" warnings, Tesla said in a release.The driver, identified as 38-year-old Walter Huang, did not have his hands on the wheel in the six seconds leading up to the fiery crash, according to the drive logs Tesla recovered."The driver had about five seconds and 150 meters of unobstructed view of the concrete divider with the crushed crash attenuator, but the vehicle logs show that no action was taken," according to Tesla.Tesla said the force of the crash was so severe the highway safety barrier designed to reduce impact into the concrete lane divider had been crushed."We have never seen this level of damage to a Model X in any other crash," Tesla said.Officials from Tesla said they are working with investigators to understand what led to the crash.The company maintained, however, that drivers using Autopilot are 3.7 times less likely to be involved in a fatal crash."No one knows about the accidents that didn’t happen, only the ones that did. The consequences of the public not using Autopilot, because of an inaccurate belief that it is less safe, would be extremely severe," Tesla said.In March, a self-driving Uber vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in Arizona.
