According to the agency, crews will close the westbound SR-54 connector to northbound and southbound I-805 between 11 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday. The department says most bites happen from April to October when the snakes and people are most active outdoors. The potential of running into a rattlesnake shouldn’t deter anyone from enjoying the great outdoors, the department adds. According to the California Poison Control System, the chances of being bitten are small when compared with the risk of other environmental injuries. Taking the time to learn about safety precautions before going outdoors can make all the difference,” Johnston added. The department says rattlesnakes generally aren’t aggressive and will likely retreat if given room and not provoked or threatened. “Most bites occur when a rattlesnake is handled or accidentally brushed against by someone walking or climbing,” the department says on their website. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — California public health officials say the Southern California region has run out of ICU bed capacity.The region, which includes San Diego and 10 other counties, hit 0% capacity, as the state reported 52,200 more coronavirus cases on Thursday. California officials say regional ICU capacity is calculated based on the total number of adult ICU beds minus neonatal and pediatric ICU beds. Adult ICU capacity includes staffed ICU beds and ICU surge beds.San Diego County said Thursday that it was currently at 16% ICU capacity after adding 2,604 new virus cases. There are 295 ICU cases in the county out of 1,186 hospitalizations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Another child has been diagnosed with E. Coli linked to animals at the San Diego County Fair, San Diego Health and Human Services officials reported Tuesday. The latest case involves a 6-year-old boy who visited animals at the fair on June 22, officials said. The boy began showing symptoms of Shiga-toxin-producing E. Coli (STEC) four days later. He was not hospitalized. 2-year-old Jedediah Cabezuela died of the illness and three other children were sickened by E. Coli, fair organizers said Friday.RELATED: Family mourns toddler dead after E. Since we asked doctors to be on the lookout for STEC, they are more likely to test patients exhibiting symptoms.” E. Coli can incubate over a period of 10 days. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities have identified the woman who died after being hit by an armored vehicle in La Jolla Tuesday night. The medical examiner reported that Mikaela Jones was killed after walking out in front of the armored vehicle on the 8600 block of Villa La Jolla Drive around 5 p.m. Police confirmed Tuesday night that the incident had happened on the young woman's 22nd birthday. At this time, the moments leading up to Jones' death are unclear.  505
