SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Some seniors say they’re hitting a frustrating roadblock of red tape at the DMV. They say health concerns aside, the state has made getting into a field office to complete requirements impossible.Although many DMV tasks can be completed online, the agency requires an in-person visit for several types of service. Once drivers hit the age of 70, the DMV requires them to renew their licenses in-person to take vision and knowledge tests.The DMV has granted drivers aged 70 and up a four-month extension to renew licenses, but only for licenses that expire through July 31. But the DMV isn’t offering new appointments, as it works through the backlog of visits that were canceled during the months-long closure. The DMV is only accepting walk-ups for a handful for services, and not for seniors seeking license renewal.“It's ridiculous and I think the governor should do something,” she said.The agency has been opaque about when it will begin accepting new appointments. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Southern California home sales are seeing a significant drop, according to a new report by CoreLogic. In San Diego County, home sales are down more than eight percent year-over-year. Despite a dip in sales, home prices rose 2.6 percent from February of 2018 to February of 2019.The median home price in February was 9,000, CoreLogic reports. The report points out that total SoCal home sales in February were the lowest since February of 2008, when only 10,777 homes were sold. The U.S. Postal Service estimates 850 million packages and 15 billion pieces of mail altogether, and Amazon says in 2016 they sent more than a billion items world wide through Prime.But this year, more companies have ways for you to protect your deliveries.Ring doorbells are becoming popular. They have motion-sensing cameras that connect to your smartphone, alerting users to see anyone that comes to the door. Their Facebook page is full of videos where owners scared off would-be thieves with an alarm or by shouting through a connected microphone.The company is also encouraging people to download their app. Even if you don't have a Ring Doorbell, the app will send you alerts any time suspicious activity is reported in your neighborhood.Also new this holiday season is the Amazon Key, an option introduced this fall. For about 0, you can buy a starter kit that includes a camera and a special door lock. Delivery drivers would be able to put packages inside your home.Amazon also has lockers all around San Diego that packages can be sent to. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's museums received a glimmer of hope following the reveal of California's new guidance.That's because San Diego County was placed in the second tier, "substantial." Now, several businesses will have to opportunity to reopen, as they did in June, with modifications indoors.The San Diego Air and Space Museum announced it plans to reopen on Monday. When the museum reopened in June, staff implemented safety policies including capacity limits, social distancing, facemasks for guests and employees, hand sanitizer stations, and continuous cleaning. Museum staff also were required to have their temperatures screened daily before entering.RELATED: Several San Diego County businesses to reopen indoors with limits under new guidanceThis time around, museums will have to limit indoor activities to 25% capacity in addition to modifications, according to the state's guidance for tier two.The museum is one of a handful of Balboa Park attractions that have been able to welcome guests back. The San Diego Zoo, Japanese Friendship Garden, and Spanish Village Art Center have already been open. The Nat said during its closure, it will also be seeking new sources of grant and gift funding.Museums across San Diego have been forced to stay closed for much of the summer, losing out on revenue that depends on guest tickets and merchandise in many instances."I think as time goes on we need to look at what fund-raising is possible, I think we need to look with those organizations that rely on revenue through the gate," Comiskey said.Comiskey added that conversations are planned on how to supplement lost income for many Balboa Park organizations. 2433
