(KGTV) -- La Mesa residents will finally get the chance to talk about the protests that were followed by violence and looting in May.The La Mesa City Council is hosting a town hall for the community Thursday at 6 p.m.The town hall comes after the city picked a firm to look into how different local agencies handled the incident. LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) - A man died after being shot by deputies inside a Lemon Grove Del Taco Saturday night, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The shooting happened just after 8:30 p.m. on the 7000 block of Broadway. Deputies were called to the restaurant after a man reported that a suspect pointed a gun at his family while they were inside the restaurant. When deputies arrived, the suspect pulled out a handgun before being shot by deputies. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. According to the department, all three deputies fired their weapons. None of the deputies were injured. (KGTV) – After being closed by the city in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, the La Mesa attraction known as the “secret stairs” was reopened to the public.The city announced Wednesday that the popular destination near Windsor Drive is open with specific social distancing guidelines in place.The stairs, widely used as a community trail or exercise route, was shut down on March 24 due to visitors not following social distancing rules.Despite the closure, some residents told the city that warning signs noting guidelines were being ignored.With the reopening, city officials are asking visitors to know the following before going to the stairs:WEAR A MASK: Everyone should wear a mask covering their face at all times while in this public space.MAINTAIN DISTANCE: Keep physical distance of 6 feet between individuals from different households and prevent crowding.PLAN AHEAD: Visit at times or days that are less crowded.KNOW WHEN TO STAY HOME: Those with underlying medical conditions should avoid public spaces when others are present. And having already been admitted to Georgia Tech, he could be on his way to the Red Planet sooner than you think.According to WXIA-TV and WSB-TV in Atlanta, Caleb's parents have known he was gifted since he was less than a year old. His mother, Claire Anderson, told WSB that he was beginning to mimic her words by the time he was three weeks old. Nine months later, WXIA reports that Caleb was able to use sign language to communicate over 250 words."I'm not really smart," Caleb told CBS News in October. "I just grasp information quickly. So, if I learn quicker, then I get ahead faster."WSB reports that Caleb is currently taking classes at both a local high school and at Chattahoochee Tech, a technical college in suburban Atlanta. In October, Caleb toured Georgia Tech and was later granted admission. LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A body was recovered in the ocean off a Southern California beach in the same area where a person was found dead in the water a week earlier. A search was launched Friday following reports of a missing swimmer in the Table Rock area of Laguna Beach. It wasn’t immediately known if the person found dead on Saturday is the swimmer reported missing the previous day. It’s the third death along Orange County’s coastline in the past week.
