SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police identified Tuesday the officer involved in a shooting in Little Italy Saturday.Several witnesses flagged down a patrol car driving at 1300 India Street about 6:45 p.m. to let the officer know about a man who was not wearing a shirt and acting belligerently.The SDPD report indicated Officer Anthony Bueno found the man, Brent Zadina, on the hood of a car, yelling at the driver.RELATED: Officer Bueno has history of conflictsZadina appeared to be drunk or under the influence of drugs, police said.Officer Bueno tried to arrest Zadina but he resisted and the officer used his taser, according to the report. Zadina continued to struggle and the officer feared for his life, said the SDPD.Officer Bueno fired one round but missed Zadina. No one was injured.Additional officers arrived and handcuffed Zadina, who was taken to the hospital for observation.San Diego Police said Zadina remains at the hospital and will be booked into jail when he is released.Officer Bueno is a 19-year veteran of the police force.Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department at 619-531-2293. 1148

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans are feeling the effects of a winter storm moving through the county Thanksgiving weekend. The storm is expected to dump heavy rain along the coast and snow in the mountains.Heavy rain expected throughout San Diego CountyA flash flood watch was issued from late Tuesday night through Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals of two to three inches are possible, especially on coastal mountain slopes. Some areas could also see rainfall rates of half an inch per hour. "The threat for flash flooding is greatest in the mountains below 5,500 feet through Wednesday, below 4,500 to 5,000 feet for Wednesday night through Thursday, and on the lowest elevations of the mountains for Thursday evening," the agency said. Snow expected to impact travelA winter storm warning is in effect for the San Diego County mountains from 4 a.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m. Friday. The National Weather Service says snowfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected between 4,000 and 4,500 feet, 6 to 18 inches from 4,500 to 5,500 feet, and from 1 to 3 feet above 5,500 feet. Snowfall for lower elevations below 4,000 feet of 1 to 3 inches is also expected, mostly for late Thursday through Friday.Strong southwest winds of 50 to 70 miles per hour are also expected along ridges and desert slopes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County is seeing far fewer influenza cases at this point in the flu season compared to last year, due in part to coronavirus-related safety measures, according to public health officials.So far this season, the county has recorded 39 influenza cases, compared to 1,220 cases at this point last season. Flu season generally runs from October through May, with flu activity peaking in December and February.The county says it's "very likely" physical distancing, hand washing, and mask-wearing are contributing to the low flu activity."Influenza activity remains very low to date this season in San Diego County. This is very likely due to the social distancing, hand washing, and mask-wearing interventions instituted to reduce the transmission of SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes COVID-19," the county's influenza report said. Health officials say influenza vaccination rates are also contributing to the lower numbers. So far this season, 1,043,552 San Diegans have been vaccinated for the flu. County Health and Human Services officials said the number of confirmed flu cases is more than double the past three-year average, putting this year on par with the severe 2017-2018 flu season. Seventy-seven San Diego County residents died of flu complications last season. Almost 10,000 became ill. More than 235 cases of flu were confirmed by Sept. 28, compared to 67 at this time last flu season. “People should get vaccinated now to avoid getting sick and infecting others,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The vaccine is safe and effective and is available throughout the region.” The flu shot is recommended for everyone over six months old. It takes about two weeks for immunity to develop, according to health officials. Anyone who needs the vaccine and does not have health insurance can go to a County public health center.
