DURANGO, Colo. – The young bear that was burned in the East Canyon Fire in June was released back into the wild this week not far from where it was found, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.The 2-year-old bear had been recovering at CPW’s Frisco Creek rehab facility in Del Norte from burns he suffered during the fire. CPW said the bear weighed only 43 pounds when he was first captured in the fire.But after undergoing salve treatment on his paws, and having his bandages changed 16 times over the course of a month, he recovered and was moved from a pen with concrete floors to one with trees and hiding spaces mid-July, where he spent the past monthMichael Sirochman, the veterinary technician and manager at Frisco Creek, said the bear was 110 pounds and had seen its paws toughen up before he was released Monday.“He’s now about the weight he should be for a two-year-old bear and is in good shape for going into the fall,” Sirochman said.CPW officers originally found the bear on June 16 walking near a pond on the east side of the East Canyon Fire, which burned in June outside of Durango. Officials said the bear was released not far from that location on Monday.CPW said the bear originally hesitated for a moment as it looked at and smelled its new surroundings but then jumped from a CPW truck and ran into the forest. (KGTV)- An El Cajon family says the least valuable items stolen during a recent burglary are the ones they most desperate to get back.  Last Friday, Shannon Torres returned to her home along Murray Drive around noon with her 3-year-old son. "Her heart dropped. She was terrified," said husband Omar Torres.Torres says she found the front unlocked and the French doors leading into the family room open."They had kicked it open and splintered it up near the top," he said.Inside the house, the bedroom drawers were open and Shannon's jewelry boxes were gone and along with them, dozens of pieces of jewelry.Among the missing items: a pearl necklace from her aunt that Shannon wore at her wedding, diamond earrings from her husband for their anniversary, and a silver-and-gold bird necklace. The latter was a Mother's Day present. The couple have three sons, ages eight, six and three."It's very sad. Heartbreaking," said Torres.That feeling was made more intense when they realized what else was in the jewelry boxes: a yellow-and-white flash drive on a key ring and a black SanDisk memory stick. On them were the birth videos of their sons, along with videos and stills of each of their first year of life."It was a tremendous time we want to be able to relive and now we can't on those videos. Instead, the remainders from cash transactions can either be donated to charity or applied to the customers' loyalty cards to be used on the next purchase.The change in giving change also applies to subsidiaries of Kroger, including Ralphs, Food 4 Less, King Soopers, Smith's and more. Kroger officials said, "at Kroger, we are implementing several creative solutions to minimize the impact to our customers. We know this is an inconvenience for our customers and we appreciate their patience. In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Fauci said he normally spends his birthday with his daughters.With the coronavirus pandemic still spreading through the US, Fauci will only be spending the milestone in person with his wife.Fauci’s birthday comes one day before Christmas. He is following the type of advice he has been giving to Americans amid the holidays. The US is averaging more than 2,500 coronavirus-related deaths and is still battling a surge spurred by Thanksgiving gatherings.“I am going to practice what I am preaching to my fellow Americans in this country,” Fauci told Blitzer. “I am going to do something that is quite modified from what I had done traditionally. I am going to have a quiet dinner in my home with my wife. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Authorities are working to clear a fuel spill Sunday afternoon after a small plane crashed landed onto a quiet El Cajon neighborhoodThe plane crashed sometime around 2 p.m. at 2nd Street and El Rey in El Cajon.The pilot was en route to Gillispie Field, a little more than a mile from where it crashed.Authorities say two people were on board the aircraft but suffered no injuries.There was a small fuel leak following the crash and the plane knocked down some wires when it crash landed.  Police are asking the public to avoid the area until about 4 p.m. Sunday.This is a developing story.  Stay with 10News for updates. 687
