BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Fang Fenghui, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken on Thursday in Beijing, pledging to jointly advance the new type of military relationship between the two countries.
During his meeting with Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma in New York, Xi said relations between their two countries are a real testimony to the phrase "a friend in need is a friend indeed."
The two sides are expected to reach important agreements in economy and trade, energy, people-to-people exchanges, climate change, environmental protection, finance, science and technology, agriculture, law enforcement, defense, aviation and infrastructure development.
"We will encourage financial innovation, boost further opening-up of the financial industry, in order to facilitate the growth of real economy," he said.
