NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- An organization in the South Bay is using dance to educate others about the Filipino culture. PASACAT, which is based in National City, is a Philippine Performing Arts Company and educational center. Anamaria Cabato is the current executive director. For her, it is a family passion. Her parents founded the organization nearly 50 years ago. Over the years, she has had nearly a dozen family members involved in the dance troupe. “It brings me to tears,” Cabato told 10News. “This is a family in itself and to have your own members of your family [involved] is just icing on the cake.” Lupe Macario is Anamaria’s sister and the grandmother of a couple of the current dancers. “We’re just delighted that they take up and embrace the culture,” Macario said. Her granddaughter, Gabby Macario, is now performing the same dances she used to perform in the 1970s.Gabby Macario, like many of the young dancers in PASACAT, was born in the United States. She said learning traditional Filipino dances is something she loves. She’s been dancing since she was five-years-old. “It’s really fun because I like learning all the dances,” Gabby said. 10News asked what would tell others who have never seen this type of dancing.“I would first tell them to try to see what we do and introduce them to what we do,” the 10-year-old said. PASACAT has had its share of setbacks, including major damage to the studio during a storm in December. The storm damaged the roof, the floor, and ruined many traditional dance costumes. They continue to raise funds for the organization through a GoFundMe page. Still, Cabato said they persevere for a bigger cause. “There’s a lack of understanding and if we appreciate all cultures of the world because this opens the doors to other people, and to understand them. You find that there’s similarities and if you find those similarities, then there’s no reason to have differences,” Cabato said. 1954

NASA announced Monday that two new studies show that there may be more water on the moon than previously thought.In a press conference, NASA said that two studies published in the journal Nature Astronomy said that data gathered by a lunar orbiter and an airborne telescope detected the presence of molecular water molecules on the sunlit surface of the moon.Previously, NASA speculated that most of the water on the moon was located on the shadowy surface that is not lit by the sun.The study opens the possibility of using that water as a resource, allowing for longer missions on the moon's surface that would require astronauts to live there for extended periods of time. 683

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — Tempers flared at a Michigan gym, and the confrontation was caught on camera.It started when Rachel Dixson says she went to get a new membership. After asking for a manager and resolving the situation, her information was violated, and her business attacked.According Dixson, who signed up to work out and at the Planet Fitness on Groesbeck in Mount Clemens, Michigan, while she was tanning the employee that signed her up looked her up on the web, found out she owns a car dealership and started writing negative and vulgar reviews.Video taken inside the Mount Clemens Planet Fitness Thursday shows Dixson confronting an employee.She says it all started much earlier that morning when she went to sign up.“It was my first time in the gym in a couple years, so I was pretty pumped and excited to work out,” says Dixson.But there was a problem. Dixson says the employee helping her wouldn’t let her pay with a debit card or include tanning in the package.She says her husband had paid before with the same card, so she asked for a manager.“(The manager) said no problem,” Dixson says. “They took my payment. He helped me with the tanning. I went in the tanning bed, and I worked out.”While she was doing that though, she says the employee was working on trying to ruin her business's reputation with negative reviews.This is one example:“She says this is absolute worst company in existence,” says Dixson. “You sell **** cars. Nasim Aghdam, the woman accused of shooting and injuring multiple people at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno before turning the gun on herself, drove up from San Diego, according to KRON.Authorities said they believe the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. KRON reports that the woman shot her boyfriend and that the others injured were caught in the crossfire. Officials in San Bruno said Tuesday afternoon that three people were wounded and the suspect died of a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.Police were called to the headquarters just before 1 p.m. and were on scene within two minutes.After arriving on scene, officers found a wounded victim outside the building before encountering a second person, who was likely a suspect, shot from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Officers later found two others wounded in a nearby business, officials said. Helicopter video shows hundreds of people running out of the building with their hands up after shots reportedly rang out.A witness reported hearing as many as 20 shots, according to KRON. No other candidates, like Libertarian Jo Jorgensen, qualified to take part in the debate, based on the Commission on Presidential Debates’ candidate selection criteria.What will be discussed?The debate commission allows each moderator to decide which topics are discussed.
